Overlooking Matera’s Sasso Barisano, Fra I Sassi Residence is set in restored 17th-century buildings inside the Matera Sassi UNESCO site area. This hotel is simply amazing! The room was very large, beautifully decorated. The view to Sassi was so nice. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. And the aperitivos we had were soooo nice, accompanied by huge amount of various snacks. This place made our stay at Matera magical!

We had a very late arrival, around 11pm, and the staff were beyond accomodating. Our transfer shuttle met us at the packing garage and the communication was seemless. Giovanni was at reception upon check in, and was an absolute delight. Francesco was also very helpful, with wine and snacks ready when requested even at such a late arrvial time. Both were so proud of the hotel and the area, full of great tips and lots of history about the hotel and the area. Our room was amazing, we had a terrace which was so great to see the view late at night. The breakfast was lovely too, and we were sad we were only there for one night! Can not recommend this hotel enough. A great location to discover the town, with the friendliest of staff! (Fillipe who carried our bags up and down those stairs and drove us back to our car was amazing as well).

Mempunyai penginapan 3-bintang, Spazio Gagarin Residence terletak di Matera, 19-minit berjalan kaki dari Matera Cathedral dan 1.3km dari MUSMA Museum. Newly built only two years ago, beautifully furnished, it looks like a new, modern hotel, just smaller. Our double room was spacious, with a large bathroom and pretty patio (we were on the ground floor). Staff, Pietro and Illaria were very helpful. Parking on the premises was very convenient at 15euro per day (although the parking space was not guaranteed as there are more rooms than parking spaces). Excellent location, no more than 500 meters to the old city walls, a market, cafes and restaurants.

Our stay there was fantastic. If you need peace and silence I would recommend this place. Host is wonderful, and she made an excellent breakfast for us.

The room was spacious, extremely clean and super comfortable and the bed was big and comfy. Our hosts, Emilio and Donatella, were so lovely, helpful and generous!! We felt as if we were at home with friends. The fact that they make the best pizza, pastry, cake and chocolate obviously helps :) Fantastic stay and definitely recommended!!!!
