I was on a research trip, and first booked the hotel only for one month. As my project was prolonged for another two months, I even did not doubt in which hotel I would stay. So, during all three months at Villa-Malaza, the owners and the staff really cared to make my stay pleasant. The bungalow was kept clean. The hotel had a garden, so that the microclimate was not so hot as expected in a tropical region. Electricity and water were available all around the day (not as natural for the rest of Antalaha!). Villa-Malaza is also somewhat outside the city and thus quiet. On the other hand, connection with the city by tuk tuks is easy.
As for disadvantages: Villa-Malaza has no access to a beach for swimming. However, there seems to be only one place for swimming in the whole Antalaha… And the internet is weaker if you prefer to stay in a bungalow. But it is stronger around the main building (normal rooms). Breakfast is rather sweet than salty. So, do not hesitate to clarify with Giséle (the owner) your preferences. Normally, she pays attention to your culinary needs.
