Fiordland Discovery offers a scenic overnight boat cruise around New Zealand's iconic Milford Sound. One of the top things we did on our 5 week journey in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Couldn’t recommend enough. It was so special to stay in the sound for a night, only our boat. We went kayaking and there was no one else there. Morning cruise when the sun was rising and we were the only boat there… will never forget this. When we come back, we’ll definitely book an overnight cruise again.

When we arrived at Milford Sound Lodge, we were informed that the road would be closed the following day. Unfortunately we could not stay but the staff member, Gillian, immediately confirmed we could cancel without any penalties. The money was refunded promptly. We were disappointed we couldn’t stay as the lodges looked fab but with the amazing customer service we received, I have no doubt it would have been a wonderful stay.

We only spent a night here but I would gladly go back. We had dinner in the restaurant but the self catering facilities were really nice, and our twin room was very cute and comfortable. We used their track transport service for the Caples-Greenstone track and it could not have been smoother and more convenient….our little rental car would have definitely not enjoyed a couple of the fords on the way.

Just as described on the website, the venue is located in a small village which can be reached by gravel road. The road itself is well-maintained and we had no trouble driving in. The house itself is not big, but it does have everything one would need, plus a great panoramic view to the lake. The breakfast is served in a little restaurant nearby and it was delicious.

The staff went above and beyond to make my stay perfect- they were super friendly and even helped me get a package that arrived late. I would definitely stay here again if back in the area. It is great proximity to lots of hiking trails but right in town so there is still access to restaurants. The room itself was very cutely decorated.
