We stayed at Kilmeny Country House for three days, and it was a truly wonderful experience. Blair and Margaret’s charming bed & breakfast is set in a peaceful, cozy location, conveniently close to Bowmore, making it an ideal base for exploring the island. Their directions to the property were clear, and it’s just as easy to find by simply entering the name into Google Maps. The house is immaculate, tastefully decorated, and exceptionally well maintained. Every detail is thoughtfully considered to ensure comfort, and the tranquil surroundings guarantee a restful night’s sleep. What truly sets Kilmeny apart is the warmth and hospitality of its hosts. Margaret welcomed us with genuine kindness and had arranged homemade cake and a dram of whisky for our arrival—a thoughtful gesture that made us feel instantly at home. Breakfast each morning was a delight: from the full Scottish breakfast and overnight oats prepared by Margaret, to Blair’s freshly brewed coffee and crisp toast. Margaret even remembered a passing mention of clotted cream and prepared it specially to accompany the scones—a gesture that spoke volumes about their care for guests. When I requested a firmer pillow, it was provided without hesitation. Every interaction reflected sincere warmth and attentiveness. The hosts struck the perfect balance—thoughtful, while never intrusive. Their hospitality made our stay not just comfortable, but truly memorable. I would wholeheartedly recommend Kilmeny, not only for its beautiful property and ideal location, but above all for the exceptional service. Thank you, Blair and Margaret, for making our stay so special. Your B&B will undoubtedly be my first choice when I return to Islay.

Amazing property next to the ferry terminal. The room was spotless and we had an ensuite bathroom so that was quite nice as well! I noticed some other rooms had a private bathroom outside their room. The staff deserve extra recognition for their hospitality, they checked in on us often and even informed us of a ferry cancellation that let us book another slot. The kitchen/pantry was well stocked and had a microwave to heat up takeaway food. The garden at the back provided an amazing view of the bay.
