FAQs about hotels in Perth

Serene as the Swan

Sun-drenched and laidback, Perth is simply a joy to be in. However, the West Australian capital does have tourist attractions, such as the Colonial-era mint, important in the country’s gold industry. East is the WACA, a must-see for cricket fans, and the city is also mad for Aussie Rules football.

The city centre has the historic Government House and Supreme Court, both dwarfed by the ultra-modern skyscrapers a few streets behind. The best skyline view is from leafy King’s Park, near the War Memorial overlooking the Swan River below, named after its black swans. Across the river in Perth Zoo are more native animals including koalas, crocodiles and free-hopping kangaroos.

Boats to the zoo leave from the Barrack Street jetty by a sail-shaped bell tower. Other day trips from Perth include Rottnest Island and Fremantle, down the river in the opposite direction from Perth Airport.

The apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Perth are spread all over this fantastic city, interspersed with restaurants serving specialities such as western rock lobster and chilli mussels. There is also a wealth of bars, many playing the indie music that the city is known for. Local brews from the Swan Brewery and wines from the Swan Valley vineyards round off the evening.

Perth is a beautiful city, we spent a lot of time at Kings Park and walked around the CBD, as it was a Sunday we were hard pressed to find a coffee shop open, we also walked around Elizabeth Quay where alcohol was abundant but was just a tad early for us. The hop on hop off double decker bus is a good way to see the sights. Also river cruises to Fremantle or inland to the wineries.

I had never been to Perth before but went with my sister in September to see the wildflowers. We went on a wildflower tour and were blown away by the variety of flora there was to be seen - definitely the highlight for us but the rest of Perth was pretty good too! Public transport was either free or cheap and easy to work out and the bus and train staff were very pleasant and helpful. The weather was delightful, while back in Melbourne they had heaters on. In our time in Perth (besides our wildflower tour) we went to the zoo, Fremantle (on a Sunday), Kings Park, Rottnest Island, Canningvale wetlands (nice, busy cafe there), did self guided walking tours of the city to look at the incredible architecture (brochures from the Info Centre), inspected the bell tower (from below) and listened to it chiming, went to the Mint (only go if you’re prepared to go on the $22 one hour tour which we didn’t do), went to the old court house, went to the WA Archives photo display and went to the art gallery. (Sorry Perth but I found your art gallery underwhelming). Overall we had a great time in Perth.

Perth is a really nice city to visit.

Perth is a really nice city to visit. Easy to get to CBD from airport via train. Staff at the train stations were very friendly and helpful. The city is very clean and well presented to visitors. It is easy to walk to many sights, We enjoyed the parks and gardens. Free bus and ferry services were appreciated. Particularly enjoyed the Wildflower Festival in Kings Park. We were lucky to see the Terracotta Warriors at the Museum. Maritime Museum in Freemantle is a must visit. Northern beaches easy to access via Freemantle train.

Everyone I asked for help if they were a local were very helpful and kind..Loved the Kings Park tours, including behind the scenes . I wished I had more time at New Norcia. It was great to see The Pinnacles but surprised driving is allowed through them.I ate at a variety of places enjoying different cuisines.

The best thing about the Pagoda is the price; a spacious 2 bedroom apartment is much more affordable than a comparably sized hotel room in the city. We had a car so still easy to get to and explore Perth CBD/Northbridge which is relatively close. The staff in the hotel restaurant at breakfast-time were gracious and patient. The suburb where the hotel is located is pleasant for exploring (IMO). The free street parking for your car is great.

The hotel is in the CBD area yet quiet. Faces the swan lake which is 5mins stroll away. It’s also not too far away from Murray St which is the shopping belt of downtown Perth. There’s street parking right beside the hotel and a big public parking lot at the back of the hotel if you’re driving.

Not my first time here, but stayed longer this time. Great location, restaurant downstairs does really nice room service food, comfy bed, big shower. Parking is inexpensive and never a problem getting a spot unlike some Perth hotels.
