    Uber works here. Quite a few dining options nearby. Shopping at a 7-story mall is very close: 5 min walk. Beautiful pier for bird watchers. We felt safe here. Most of the city is an easy walk. Love the parrillada and the Club Aleman for lunch and dinner.

    People come here because it is a major transport hub.

    People come here because it is a major transport hub. The town itself is ugly and unsafe. The only place to visit in town is the fun, vibrant fish market. Spend most of your time in wonderful Puerto Varas, just a few km away.

    So, there is nothing about Puerto Montt.

    So, there is nothing about Puerto Montt. I thought it would be a nice city. But its not. So skip it, instead better stay in Puerto Varas - it is closer to the nice things in the area, hotels are good and atmosphere is better. In Puerto Montt, once it gets dark it doesn't feel very safe....

    We went on a shopping trip, so didn't go to any beaches or other touristy places, except to have fish/seafood lunch in Angelmo. We had dinner in a pleasant Peruvian restaurant near our hotel. The seafront in the city centre is attractive or a stroll when the sun comes out - we were lucky on the second day. The large mall opposite has all kinds of things at good prices, especially if you live in Argentina! There's a large Decathlon, as well as several department stores.

    Puerto montt is a beatifull city and small but it works as a harbor and from here you can visit so many interesting areas. overall the region is like a 7 days trip and even 2 weeks if you want to see all.

    the city is a good base or starting point to explore the region. The city itself is unremarkable in my view but is close to a lot of amazing places: Peulla, Petrohue, Cochamo, Chiloe island, Puerto Varas, Vicente Perez national park, Puerto Varas, Puerto Octay... The city center can be unsafe at night. I recommend move only with day light or ask for a taxi in your hotel.

    Great hostel in Puerto Montt! The hosts were very kind and made sure to take the time to show the whole accommodation. Additionally, they were very helpful with arranging excursions. The hostel is about 20 minutes away from the city center of Puerto Montt, which is walkable. The neighborhood is pretty quiet, which I liked. And the room itself was also excellent!

    Good location. Staff were very friendly. Older style hotel and dated but everything works. 6 floors of rooms plus 7th/top floor with breakfast area. Breakfast from 7 - 10 juice, fresh coffee, fruit, real yogurt, cereal, toast, jam, cheese, ham, hard boiled eggs and pastry. Stored my bags in the morning until I could pick up a car rental.
