Beautiful city.
Beautiful city. Since it was my first trip to Colombia I stayed about 2 weeks in Manizales, I needed to get my bearings and learn to take the buses, the money, etc. I got tired of being in the city and when I discovered how gorgeous the country around it is, I took off to some of the parks, springs and smaller towns. It is an extremely scenic area, even the city, with makes SanFrancisco look flat. It's at the top of a mountain. The people are unbelievably nice and polite! Loved it. Don't miss the cathedral. Manizales is an amazing city - it is very safe, clean and beautiful scenery. It is one of the safest cities I have traveled to in the world, without feeling nervous at anytime. I feel safer in Manizales than many cities in the United States and Europe. The location is spectacular, nestled on the Manizales side of the volcano. But you can't survive on views alone, particularly in an area which frequently has poor weather.
