FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making centre and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighbouring Hockley is home to the National Ice Centre and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centres are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Centre.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is south-west of Long Eaton.

I visited the Playhouse theatre for a talk from Derek Jacobi, an excellent actor. I visited the Castle which was impressive and very interesting. The exhibitions were interesting and the café facilities were outstanding. I walked along the pleasant Nottingham canal. I had an excellent meal at Browns restaurant near the Playhouse theatre. The people I met were friendly and helpful.

Nice place lovely shopping centre and easy to navigate across the centre only issue like most cities is the homeless and dodgy druggies scattered in shop fronts or outside restaurants needs a good clear out or banning orders

I wasn't sightseeing but Nottingham seems like a place worth exploring. The Goose Fair was on when I visited, which looked amazing. I liked the tramway and there's an excellent 'bus service. One slight criticism is that the city could do with local street maps at 'bus and tram stops so that a stranger can better orientate themselves.

The town is fine, better than I thought.

The town is fine, better than I thought. Lots of diff cultures ad diff types of food. City centre is easy and handy and walkable from where we stayed, both occasions... But we only went re student life associations. Pages on social media show it off proudly and lots to do with free activities. Victoria shopping centre is grand also

We live in the South East.

We live in the South East. This was a three night "add on" to a trip to visit family in the West Midlands, As such we found Nottingham a good place to visit and a useful base for a trip to nearly towns I(Newark and Lincoln). The deer in Wollaton Park were good to watch (we saw over 80 spread through the huge park) We would recommend Nottingham as a good place to include in combination with other stops but probably not as a single destination,

The room we had was absolutely massive, could live In there with no issues at all. Everything was clean Had to contact the landlord, he answered his phone super fast, gave clear instructions ( I couldn’t open the lock box, I was being silly) he was also very nice over the phone The bed was very comfortable and the shower was actually warm, unlike a lot of hotels I’d stayed in Very close to the city centre, not even a 5 min walk If I was ever to come back to notts. This would be the first place I check for rooms!

Nice clean room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom with bath/shower, good selection of toiletries. Booked breakfast, lots of choice (continental plus cooked options also), scrambled eggs especially nice - everything cooked to perfection! Nice welcoming entrance to hotel, staff are friendly and attentive. Hotel close to city centre (we saw a show at the Concert Hall - this was between 5-10 mins walk from the hotel for us).

The location was great, being less than 10 mins from the city centre. There is also a supermarket across the road for any incidentals you might need. And plenty of parking available. It is on a busy street however there was no noise from our room (ground floor). We also appreciated the addition of the portable fan as most hotel rooms have poor air circulation.
