Buses to the Eden project left from the railway station which was 5minutes away. No buses to the Heligan gardens on a Sunday so had to take taxis. Didn’t visit St Austell but hotel is close to Lost Gardens of Heligan, Looe, Polperro and about 45 minutes from Trebah Gardens in Falmouth. All are well worth a visit. Hotel is also a very short walk from Britannia Inn where we had a lovely meal.Guest review byAnonymous - 6.0

The best places to visit were Mevagissey and Charlestown, they both had an old world charm. St Austell town centre is dated and needs some TLC , but...
St Austell town centre is dated and needs some TLC , but around the ring round is everything you need to make your stay great. Big Asda, lots of resteraunts, and the usual chains. There is some amazing beaches, countryside, walks in and around St Austell. And , it's a brilliant base for all things Cornwall, very well connected. Carlyon and Petewan beaches are fantastic. St Austell is a run down and neglected town hard to navigate and not much to see. Charlestown is a delightful harbor with a good choice of restaurants and bars a bit of a shame that the harbor is being worked on but it has to be done. The Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The White Robes and slippers were a nice touch in the rooms and we enjoyed the indoor swimming pool. We had our own quiet, private terrace we enjoyed sitting out in. But we thought it could provide refreshments like Complimentary Water in the Hotel Lounge as they don't serve drinks or food during the day only at dinner. Or offer a paid welcome pack on arrival.
