Stayed in one of the air conditioned rooms in July, and it was absolutely fantastic for the price. Very spacious and modern room with a satellite tv with a large number of channels, small refrigerator, sizeable bathroom and shower, coffee and tea. A very good buffet breakfast (with made-to-order eggs) is offered between 7am-10am. However, what stood out most about the very centrally located Prost Hotel was its friendly and welcoming staff. Well before checking in, I had a number of random questions given that it was my first time to Namibia, and Debbie responded both very quickly and very warmly. It’s really hard to convey warmth through an email, but it certainly came through. I had asked similar questions to another, unnamed, local, historic hotel when debating where to stay, and their responses were very cool and perfunctory — couldn’t have been more opposite than Debbie’s. In any case, each and every one of the staff above and beyond to make our stay superb. Needed a very early ride to a tour pick up spot about a mile away after checkout - no problem, Debbie organized a staff person to take us. Although we had 10 (!) foriegn country electric adapter plugs, none worked for Namibia - no problem, the front desk let us borrow two for our stay and let us know where to buy one for the rest of our trip. Couldn’t figure out how to work the tv remote (extremely embarrassed about this as a man!) - no problem, front desk staff immediately came up and sorted us out. Checked out before breakfast, but plans slightly changed afterwards - no problem, came back and had our final breakfast at the hotel. So huge shout out to debbie and all of the wonderful staff at prost hotel!! If we ever come back to Swakopmund, this will be the one and only hotel we stay at.

The hotel was amazing - the Seaview room, the location right infront of the beach, the restaurant, the staffs. There are all amazing. Highly recommend if you are in swakopmund. Good to book upfront - room and restaurant as they are always fully booked on high season. I have a great stay here.

    Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. I visited Swakopmund 20 years ago and the only issue I found worrysome this time around was the many hustlers trying to force their offerings for sale. The jetty also needs some urgent maintenance.

    the museum which was recommended by the hotel was really worth a visit we spent a whole morning there and learnt so much about Namibia and its people as well as Swakopmund. the walk along the pier though very windy was worth the experience.

    The crystal museum is a must see.

    The crystal museum is a must see. Stadtmitte Cafe serves exceptional food (well worth the wait). The manageress at the Mermaid Casino was extremely rude, impolite and disrespectful when we attempted to leave the premises with a can of Coca Cola that we had purchased within the premises much to the embarrassment of the security personnel who apologised profusely to us on our departure.

    The quaint shops, excellent restaurants, with fresh seafood. A 'fat bike' cycle ride around dessert and beach of Swakopmund departing from the centre of town is not to be missed if you're capable to basic cycling. Book restaurants early!

    Swakopmund was our favorite city in all of Namibia.

    Swakopmund was our favorite city in all of Namibia. It is small enough to enjoy, big enough to have varied shopping, the beach area was superior to the desert beaches en route to Walvis Bay, plus a variety of excellent restaurants. Parking was very easy and safe at the Strand Hotel. The local crafts area was enormous. We walked EVERYWHERE once we parked our vehicle. My wife bought jewellery there. We maintained situational awareness but no one tried to steal from us.

    I really enjoyed my time in Swakopmund.

    I really enjoyed my time in Swakopmund. The jetty, beach walkways, and little curio shops were some of my favorite spots, there’s something magical about watching the sunset by the ocean. I tried a few places to eat, but The Tug and Ocean Cellar were definite highlights. The seafood was amazing and the vibe was just right. Getting around was super easy; everything was within walking distance and the town felt safe and welcoming. As a solo traveler, I loved the freedom to explore at my own pace. Whether it was beach walks, popping into cafés, visiting the museum, or just sitting by the ocean with a book. It was peaceful, refreshing, and exactly what I needed.

    Our stay at Hotel A La Mer in Swakopmund was fantastic! Martina, the host, was incredibly welcoming and informative, making our visit even more enjoyable. The hotel offers gorgeous sea views and is perfectly located across from the excellent restaurant, The Tug. The safe parking and central location made exploring the area a breeze. Highly recommend this gem for anyone visiting Swakopmund!

    Very spacious accommodation in a nice residential area within easy reach of the town centre (about a 15 min walk along the beach boardwalk). Spotlessly clean, very comfortable, everything provided that we needed. The host Wessel was very helpful. We loved our stay here and would love to stay again if we ever come back to Swakopmund.     Its location is perfect at the beach front, mid way between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. The rooms are very clean and spacious and worth the price. The staff is also very helpful from the driver who fetched me at the airport to the house help. I really enjoyed my stay with them and will do it again.
