The room was generously spacious, offering a high level of comfort. It had a modern touch, with the convenience of an in-room iPad for accessing menus and requesting services, such as e-bike rentals. Steve and Jackie are wonderful hosts. The Villa is perfectly sited between the centre and the Botanic Gardens and is a beautifully maintained classic building. The rooms are spacious and our bed was very comfortable. There's air con if needed. One of the highlights was breakfast, which was tasty, and an opportunity to have a chat with other travellers at round the communal tables with plentiful supplies of tea and coffee.

FAQs about hotels in Christchurch

Stunning Natural Beauty at Your Doorstep

Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located along the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its centre. Surrounding highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favourite location for locals when the sun shines.

Out towards the spectacular harbour town of Lyttelton is the Christchurch Gondola ride where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

The South Island’s capital is a good starting-off point for extreme sports such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting. The majestic Southern Alps surround the city and offer world-class ski resorts such as Methven, at the foot of Mt. Hutt.

A large selection of motels and hotels are available on Booking.com, including in the vicinity around Christchurch International Airport.

Lots to see and do in Christchurch.

Lots to see and do in Christchurch. We had 2 full days to explore and managed to see/do the hop-on/hop-off tram, punting on the Avon, the gondola (plus walk from the top down to Lyttleton), the earthquake museum, the cardboard cathedral, New Regent St, Riverside Market and a stroll around the beautiful botanic gardens. Ran out of time to visit the Art Gallery and Willowbank Wildlife Park which were on our list.

Central Christchurch (NZ's second largest city) is ideal for strolling around on a sunny day. It's situated on a picturesque river with beautiful Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park within easy reach. (Stunning blooming flowers Sept-Oct.) There are plenty of good eateries and it's awesome to see the modern shopping areas and facilities that have resurfaced over the last few years.

Merivale shopping is excellent Easy parking and good range of shops Lots of nice restaurants and the inner city is looking great with the rebuild Did find it difficult to find a restaurant in middle of town as google maps made it hard when things are walkable and inside the centre of blocks of building but you can't drive directly to Parking was expensive in the centre of town making malls and suburbs attractive to shop at Good bus service

We have visited Christchurch many times, the last one 2 years ago. We loved the city, it’s really got a great buzz about it. We enjoyed catching up with friends and also had a super day being tourists….Went to Sumner then up the Gondola. Great views . Also to the Antarctic Centre before a loop on the tram. Ate at one of the many restaurants on the Riverside strip one night, and on another had a lovely surprise when we walked to the old restored church, now called the Church Brew Pub.

Location is only a short 10 min walk to Christchurch International Airport and the small shopping centre (& Woolsworth supermarket) next door to the hotel helps with meals/groceries if required. Excellent for air travelers on early morning departure needing a place to rest. Though the small private room is without a kitchenette, the spacious & well equipped communal kitchen is a great and fun concept . Strong wifi connectivity. Digital check in/out, a smart idea. Staff are very welcoming and friendly.

The location was awesome...1min walk to the venue of the concert I came down for. 3-minute walk to the bus stop that takes you to and from the airport ($8 return, so cheap and better than the $78 Uber return). Great food place options right outside the hotel entrance, bottle store, cafe, hairdressers, and the old cathedral as your neighbor. Staff were great, quick, and really helpful. I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment as well. It was spacious and had everything I needed and more. Great

The hotel is within walking distance to the the airport/terminal. A hotel shuttle is also available even in the uncivilized early morning hours - which is useful especially in case of heavy luggage. A hotel restaurant is fine, and there are some other meal options nearby. A 15 minute drive to down-town Christchurch.
