Nice, clean hotel, the staff is kind and attentive to the guests. Istanbul airport is about 40 minutes - 1 hour by car (depending on traffic). They can book/call a taxi at the hotel, which was a big help for us. The breakfast was delicious. I recommend the hotel’s restaurant, very delicious foods, drinks and desserts are available. Just a small thing: some member of the staff there unfortunately doesn't know much English. The Grand Bazar is about a 15mins walk from the hotel, and other attractions can also be easily reached by public transport or a longer walk.

All was great, especially personnel who helped right away if we had any issues. We had a small issue with the room that we booked but the team was so great that they offered us a bigger room for no extra fee the moment we approached. Everyone is friendly. Rooms are comfy, breakfast has more than a classic turkish breakfast can offer. Location was great as well, most sightseeings are within a walking distance. All in all great price value.

FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

We arrived by cruise ship and docked at the Galataport.

We arrived by cruise ship and docked at the Galataport. Stayed overnight on the ship and disembarked the following day and had booked another couple of days before flying back to the UK. Istanbul was manic especially on the first day owing to some form of protest march with armed police in riot gear. We returned to the ship. The next day we checked into our hotel. Visited the Grand Bazar and Blue Mosque plus walked around the harbour areas etc. In general we found Istanbul a dirty disgusting place with litter, smells of street cooked food, feral cats running around everywhere. What was very sad to see was the sheer amount of plastic and other rubbish chucked into the waterway around the port / harbour areas. It just made the entire area a dump site. Couldn’t quite believe that local people would allow a city such as Istanbul to be so filthy. It was a place I’d been looking forward to seeing, but sadly it let me down big time.

I booked my hotel with Booking.com and also my airport transfer. For other travelers with transfers - please note that you should go to exit 14 where some people have a complete list of passengers and where they are going. It seems chaotic but they know what they are doing, so don't panic. Lots to see in Istanbul. Lots of good food and the Turkish wine is very good. City is amazingly clean considering the size. There are cats everywhere and people put food and water out for them. There are even little cat-houses many places. There is free veterinary service for street cats and dogs. Even an animal ambulance.

We enjoyed visits to the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and...

We enjoyed visits to the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Hagia Sofia. Try to plan ahead and obtain tickets in advance. Online booking for the Hagia Sofia is a package with the museum. If you want to choose one or the other, you will need to queue. There were plenty of places to eat offering a variety of Turkish (and other) choices at reasonable prices. Eating out doesn't cost a fortune. Try the Turkish breakfast options. It is very easy to get around Istanbul using the fine public transport system. As is regularly said, get an Istanbulkart, a credit card sized plastic card that can be topped up. There are trams, buses, ferries and the metro where the card can be used and topped up. Topping up is simple, but avoid using your native currency credit or debit card. Use a currency card where you can pay in Turkish Lire (TRY) or use Turkish bank notes. Most public transport journeys cost a flat rate 35 TRY at the time of writing. Enjoy the tourist sites, relax in a bar or cafe, wander the streets or linger by the water front. Istanbul has plenty to offer.

    As a history-buff, I've always loved Istanbul.

As a history-buff, I've always loved Istanbul. It's fascinating historic heritage and its sights and layout along the Bosphorus. This time (3rd visit) though, I was turned-off by the pricing of tickets to visit the main sights (Aya Sophia, Topkapi, cistern, etc). Each place is costing €25 - €50 per person, which is too much (much more than any other top museums of the world). It felt as though Türkiye sees tourists as walking ATMs to be fleeced from their cash. Visiting their top sights felt more like you were visiting an attraction rather than discovering their heritage and culture. There are now also long, inefficient double-queues (ticket and then entry) for everything, which wasn't the case before. This even extended to the airport, where Carluccio's (a mid-range restaurant chain in UK) wanted to charge €17 for a glass of pilsner, €30 for a salad and €32 for a pasta!. It seems as 90% of the airport is overpriced x2-x6 times for Louis Vuitton customers. I also found that the treatment of most involved in the tourist industry seemed much colder and transactional than before, a sort of deliberate indifference. Lastly, everybody seems to smoke everywhere, at every moment! In summary, while I think Istanbul is an amazing city, I found it to have become a rather unwelcoming, greedy city.

I always stay at the Marble Hotel in Istanbul, whether with family or as a solo traveler. This December, I had three different bookings as I traveled to Bursa and returned. I've stayed here almost 10 times over the past three years, spending a total of more than 30 days. The hotel staff are very friendly and supportive. Eren is an excellent leader. The breakfast was outstanding, and the location is unbeatable—right at the heart of Taksim Square and Istiklal Street. December in Istanbul was exceptional, with amazing weather.
