The Legend of the West

San Antonio in Texas is home to 2 of the state’s top attractions – The Alamo and the Riverwalk. One of the city’s former Spanish missions, the Alamo was the site of a deadly battle that cost folk hero Davy Crockett his life. The other remaining missions – Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada with its aqueduct – are dotted around the city. The attractive Spanish Governor’s Palace also remains.

The San Antonio River runs right through the city, below street level. Known as the Riverwalk, its banks have been cleverly developed to house riverfront restaurants, bars and shops, and are spectacularly lit for Christmas. There are several San Antonio hotels by the Riverwalk which are also close to the Rivercenter Mall, the city’s biggest shopping centre, while La Villita artisan village offers more traditional crafts.

Across the road in Hemisfair is the Tower of the Americas, a tall observation tower with a revolving restaurant overlooking the Alamodome, a huge sports and convention venue, home to the annual Alamo Bowl collegiate football game. Booking.com offers several San Antonio hotels near the Alamodome, and more accommodation near San Antonio Airport.

On the outskirts of the city are Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The city also hosts the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the country’s biggest Western events.

    Beautiful, historic buildings with a ton of history to explore. Staying near the River Walk is optimal since we walked from there to many destinations. We loved the light show at the San Fernando Church, La Gloria restaurant in the Pearl District, and Leche del Tigre in Southtown. Market Square reminded us of markets in Mexico and Peru and La Villita also had lots of interesting small stores. Everyone was warm and friendly and late September was still plenty warm for shorts and sundresses!

    HI @bookingcom , Booking Confirmation CONFIRMATION NUMBER: 5990.169.881 PIN CODE: 5078 . I was over charged , why is it ? I'm seeing my bank statement now to see extra charge , it was helpDesk at the time of check-in said its FREE and no charge and she chose KING for us , we are ok with Queen bed next to each other , please revert the charges and confirm me ASAP It was meant to be $208.06 , BUT i see extra charge on my card again $187.04 again , which should be , please REFUND $187.04

    All service personnel who I encountered in San Antonio were extremely friendly and helpful. That includes from the airport to my hotel, and also at the Alamodome. I was very impressed with their hospitality and can't wait to go back!

    Love love love San Antonio!

    Love love love San Antonio! The culture here is amazing, and so many fun experiences. Has really great food spots around the city, and it’s central Texas so it’s not as far as a drive to explore other parts of Texas. Easy to navigate around. Also a very family friendly city.

    The Hop On Hop Off was the most helpful. We learned a lot about the history of, cultural diversity, and the people from our retired school teacher Mr O. The customer service of many staff from hotel, restaurants, Hop on busses, and general services was impeccable. They never said go here or there from just directions. They all walked you to an area so you could see exactly where we wanted to go. The Alamo and the laser light show was wonderful. The boat ride too was fun. Other tourists were very friendly and suggestions welcomed. Thank you San Antonio!!

    San Antonio has a wealth of culture if you look for it and...

    San Antonio has a wealth of culture if you look for it and dare enter the city (parking can be difficult to find - peak times, so take your patience with you). Visit the mercado, it's like crossing the Mexican border without crossing the Mexican border! Eat at Mi Tiera, the experience is well worth the wait - peak times.

    I liked the location of the hotel to the Riverwalk and alamodome. I also liked the convenience of parking options for my car. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I arrived early, and they were able to check me into a room. I was expecting to wait until check-in time, but they were able to accomated me early. That was appreciated. They have dining at the hotel- ruth chris steak house, or you can eat on the Riverwalk. Access to the river walk is right at the hotel, too.

    The location was very good, within easy walking distance of downtown (the Riverwalk, Alamo). Breakfast was served hot with a variety of choices. I can't say enough about the staff - they were fantastic! It is a rare experience when the entire hotel team, from the maids, to the breakfast staff, to the front desk personnel are ALL so friendly and accommodating. Well done to the entire. team.

    Our stay was delightful. The whole hotel was relaxed yet elegant, with helpful and welcoming staff. The pool was lovely on hotter days. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated, and the beds are super-comfortable. We enjoyed being right on the Riverwalk, and we also appreciated the security of the porte cochere driveway for unloading the car on arrival.
