Downtown Santa Fe is charming and walkable with tons of culture. It’s not nearly as big as I expected from a state capital! Very manageable for a short trip. Most shops lean touristy (so many jewelry stores) but in the plaza you can find local artisans selling. The food scene is excellent. The culture and the history of course! It was enjoyable walking around the Plaza area and not seeing trash or feeling like we had to be on our guard. We felt safe and were happily surprised that the public restrooms next to the public parking lot even had individual security guards outside! We enjoyed walking to Plaza and viewing items during Indian Market. Beautiful city with pleasant 80s Temps and low Humidity. Ate twice at The Pantry locals favorite and Palacio. I have been coming to Santa Fe for over 20 years, mostly to the Opera. I had stay in all kind of accommodations. It is a pilgrimage to the soul. I had enjoyed the museums, the open, the choral the chamber music, the Indian market, the international market, the sSpanish market, the armers market. Mostly the food, like no other place. The location is great, right in the middle of historic Santa Fe. The staff was welcoming. Our room was quite large, with a very large bathroom that had a tub and a shower. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a nice sitting area and the heating worked well. We were allowed three free drinks (including cocktails) every night, during the Kickback time, which also included various snacks like hot dogs and mac N cheese.
