    We spent two days in Ninh Binh and could have easily spent a...

    We spent two days in Ninh Binh and could have easily spent a day or two longer. It's a very laid back area and there is lots to see. We stayed between Trang An and Tam Coc and used bicycles to get around. The quieter location suited us but for younger travellers Tam Coc is more vibrant. The walk to the top of Hang Mua viewpoint is best done in the early morning (we went before breakfast) so it isn't too crowded and not too hot. There were mountain goats roaming around when we walked up (around 7.00am) but they'd gone by the time we descended and more people were arriving. We didn't take the boat ride in Tam Coc but we took a boat ride in Trang An. The scenery seems more mountainous around Trang An than Tam Coc. On the day we went the water was high so we couldn't go into the caves and there was only one route open, which seemed to be a mix of the other routes. The boat trip lasted around 2.5 hours and was excellent. We also visited the old town at night, which was nice. It's all lit up and there are some good places to eat on the waterfront. Bich Dong temple is also worth visiting. There is a staircase leading up to a smaller shrine and to the left of that there is a passage through a bat cave and up to another small shrine outdoors.

    The view is stunning.

    The view is stunning. I was shocked of how beautiful and cleaned this city is. You can enjoy cycling around the city under the quiet, historic and cultural atmosphere. At the famous landmarks, there was no scam or shoving, hustling, jostling. The goat meat in Ninh Binh is so delicious

    Overall, the experience was very good.

    Overall, the experience was very good. Trang An and Mua Cave were absolutely must-visit places—stunning and unforgettable. If there’s one small note, I found that prices around Tam Coc were a little higher compared to Trang An, but it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the trip.

    My visit to Ninh Binh was only to visit Cuc Phuong National...

    My visit to Ninh Binh was only to visit Cuc Phuong National Park and I caught the end of the butterfly migration which was an exceptional, never to be forgotten experience. The nearest ATM to Wyndham Grand is only a 5 minute drive away but it is advisiable to bring cash to pay taxi drivers, shops and the National Park entrance fee. Taxis are easy to arrange and fairly reasonably priced. It is common to agree a price for a round trip and often the driver will wait for you, sometimes for several hours.

    Hoa Lu, the ancient capital is a great place to visit, pls book the tour guide who can help you to understand the place, pls spend time for walking around, even climd up the mountain to see the whole landscape. We did have a great time and we enjoyed it a lot. Thung Nham is another place worth visiting, especially at 5pm when all the birds are flying back home, it is fantastic view to see and enjoy Night market with long walk along the river is another great experiences. The food, the people and the landscape of Ninh Binh: wonderful!

    when we arrived we could already feel the warmth and the calm aura that the host spread. he even sat down with us to plan our trip in ninh binh. it was possible to rent a motorcycle or bikes. we even got treated with a traditional vietnamese dish for the last breakfast and by the end of our staying the host drove us by himself to our next transfer because of the bad weather. all in all together, the location was near of the main tourist street of Tam Coc, the staying was very clean and for the perfect price. thank you for your kindness!

    We stayed at Windy Fields for 3 days in december. The staff is really nice and helpfull! You can get any advice from them, they help you plan your itinerary when in Ninh Binh. There is a nice pool, and beautiful views of the Rice fields (although it is not very green in december). It is a 15min walk to Tam Coc centre, where the restaurants and bars are, but the hotel restaurant is also open all day and serves excellent food. Bicycles are included, so we biked everywhere.

    It was our first time in Ninh Binh and we were very happy with this hotel. It’s located in a quiet area, about 2km from Tam Coc center, but you can easily get there by bicycle or motorbike with stunning rice field views along the way. The staff were friendly and always tried their best to help with anything we needed. We’ll definitely come back!

    The family of this homestay made us feel like home and part of their family. We even got invited for a traditional Vietnamese dinner on our last evening. Can only recommend if you seek a quiet stay out of busy Tam Coc. Tam Coc and Ninh Binh can be reached by Grab, bike or even by foot.
