Octant Douro located in Vista Alegre, Castelo de Paiva. Offering a stunning infinity pool the hotel overlooks the Douro River blending itself with the surrounding nature. Everything was perfect and staff look very happy.

Nestled along the Douro River, Douro Hotel Porto Antigo. is housed in a historic building. It features an outdoor swimming pool, in-house massages and a restaurant serving European dishes. The location of this hotel is spectacular, right between the historical River Douro and River Bestança, close to the incredible N-222 road. Had an amazing view from my room during my stay. As it was off season, the hotel was pretty empty, which was not a problem as I was able to get great breakfast and dinner in the property. There's free parking right next to the hotel. There are many small towns nearby to get supplies if needed and great opportunities for hiking and exploring.

This property is basically a cluster of three houses, with the inn/bedrooms in a delightful, renovated traditional multi-story house, and the dining and reception space in the main house. The owner Miguel was born to be a host. He was quite literally one of the nicest and most outgoing person that I have met. The highlight of the stay is the evening meal, complete with reception, then communal dining with multi-course homemade cuisine and his estate wine. The meal was akin to a United Nations social, with Miguel happily chatting (in multiple languages) with the guests as he worked. One of the highlights of our trip to the Douro Valley.

The warm welcome set the tone right away — the owner and the entire team were not only incredibly attentive but also genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome. The property itself is peaceful and beautifully maintained, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Even the sweet resident dog, Becas, added to the charm. We were surprised with a room upgrade, and the room was fantastic: spacious, beautifully designed and thoughtfully equipped. The food deserves a special mention — every meal we had was outstanding, fresh and full of flavor. The dining experience felt both personal and refined without being pretentious. It’s clear that a lot of care and passion go into the kitchen here. We would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend Quinta do Bosque to anyone visiting the Douro Valley.

The gardens were beautiful for strolling. The common space outside and in the breakfast room was brilliantly conducive for meeting other guests and swapping ideas. Maria was absolutely lovely and helpful and arranged a few unforgettable experiences. We hope to return one day!

Excellent communication and a very friendly host. She made us feel right at home, from the second that we arrived up till the moment we left. Magnificent views both from the room and pool area. The pool is well kept and is never too busy. The breakfast has all you need with a variety of breakfast foods. Everything is fresh and tasty and the host even made us scrambled eggs to accompany the buffet food. Also highly recommend the onsite wine tour of the GUEDA winery. Margarida’s brother is very knowledgable about the wines and he gives the tour himself.

Quinta do Tedo is an award-winning agrotourism that provides accommodation with breakfast included. Everything was great :-). Beautiful view, pool, surroundings...professional staff, clean, pleasant.
