The host was super friendly! It had a homely feel and I felt very comfortable here. We also had a BBQ together on the front deck!

El propietario lo tiene todo muy bien montado con instrucciones claras sobre la cocina, el baño, las habitaciones, información sobre las atracciones turísticas más cercanas, las tiendas y un largo etc. El desayuno es muy barato y buenísimo!! Además, te deja elegir hora entre las 6 y las 9 de la mañana para preparártelo. Para llegar hasta la casa hay que bajarse en la estación de Mataki y está a unos 5 minutos caminando. No hay demasiados trenes durante el día pero sí los suficientes teniendo en cuenta que es una zona rural, tan solo hay que saber el horario que tienen.

We spent three wonderful days in Hirosaki, a charming and authentic town that still feels untouched by mass tourism. It was refreshing to explore a place where the pace is slower and the culture feels so genuine. The absolute highlight of our stay was Guest House Chara, run by the kindest elderly couple, Fusao and Toshiko. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home—it wasn’t just a place to sleep, it truly felt like staying with family. Their house told a story, filled with warmth, history, and the little personal touches that made it feel lived-in and loved. From the amazing homemade breakfast to the delicious ramen dinners they prepared, every meal was made with care and love. The guest house is conveniently located, just a short walk from a supermarket and a laundromat, which made things really easy for us. This personal, welcoming experience truly made our trip special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful, off-the-beaten-path experience in Japan. ありがとうございます

Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse se encuentra en Matsushima, a 23 km de Sendai City Community Support Center y a 5 min a pie de Entsuin Temple. The owner is incredibly kind, and we really enjoyed our daily conversations with him before and after exploring Matsushima. The facilities were clean and pleasant, and the guest rooms are located on the first floor, while he and his wife live downstairs. The location was perfect, and the owner was very helpful with recommendations for places to eat, things to see, and other tips. A special thanks goes to him and his wife on our last day, when we had to be evacuated due to a tsunami warning. They took care of us and brought us to safety further inland. They made sure we stayed informed, drove us around to find food, and helped us find a place to sleep for the night. This experience truly reflects their warm hospitality. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Japan. (If you are into music i believe you will enjoy seeing his record collection) crazy 😁

Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte es un alojamiento de 3 estrellas que se encuentra en Zao Onsen, a 8 min a pie de Estación de esquí Zao Onsen, y que dispone de jardín, restaurante y bar. Fantastic location, right on Uwanodai slope - actual ski-in ski-out. Host was extremely friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was great and good value. Nice draught beer! Shower in room with a shared hot bath that could be booked for free. There's a ski/boot room in the basement that opens onto the slope. The decor is a bit dated but in a very charming way.

Shukubo Kanbayashi Katsukane se encuentra en Tsuruoka, a 24 km de Acuario Kamo Aquarium, y ofrece alojamiento con wifi gratis y parking privado gratis. This place was a true sanctuary during my two-month journey. I originally planned to stay just a short while, but it felt so peaceful and welcoming that I ended up extending my stay. There was so much to explore in the area. I discovered the three sacred mountains of Haguro, Gassan, and Yudono, part of the Dewa Sanzan, and I wanted to experience them all. The traditional accommodation was simple, beautiful, and full of charm .Bus stop and great food spot just across the street. I truly didn’t want to leave. What made it even more special were the two amazing women who run the place with such kindness and care. I felt at home from the moment I arrived. I will never forget my time here.
