The apartments were spacious and fit us (3 people) perfectly. They provide you with towels and some toiletries (you have to choose which at check in). It was a quiet area but you can easily get to bars and restaurants nearby (we took Ubers). Free laundry room.

The property is non-smoking and is set 700 metres from Taichung Railway Station. Location close to the train station. Big clean rooms. Nice shower. Very quiet so had a good night's rest.

It is no frills but offers a decent bed, private bathroon, good wifi, and even the ability to do laundry (they provide detergent but I think you have to hang dry, which I did not have time for but I think it pretty typical for Taiwan) Taichung Central Park is nearby and EXCELLENT if you are a runner.
