Shimpei and his family are absolutely lovely. Shimpei would also go out of his way to help you including getting to places and calling tour guides. The guest house is at a great location, walking distance to Dogo Onsen with good transport links. There was also free tea/ coffee/ biscuits and amazing service throughout my stay.

Gramma's Place was a unique and extraordinary experience, like visiting a beloved relative rather than staying at a hotel. The whole family was incredibly warm and attentive, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were spacious and beautifully kept in traditional Japanese style, offering a peaceful retreat after a long day of cycling. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and we had a wonderful night's sleep. We also opted for dinner, and we’re so glad we did. Every dish was exquisite and beautifully presented, you could really feel the love and care that went into preparing the meal. Breakfast was just as good. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here to anyone cycling the Shimanami Kaido. It’s not just a place to rest, it’s a highlight of the journey.

汐風ライダーハウス -Shiokaze rider house- è posizionato a Hōjō, a 2 km da Hojo Hometown Pavilion e 3,3 km da Hojo Kashima Shrine. I loved my stay at Shiokaze rider house. It was right on the Henro path. The owner was so friendly and welcoming. We used the phone translator app! I was able to purchase a meal there that I cooked myself and also a cold beer~ so convenient not to have to go out again after a long day of walking. My room was comfortable. The other guests were friendly also. Excellent spot!
