The property is very new and well furnished. Fully kitted out kitchen and great outdoor space and a chilled indoor space too! It feels like you’re in a private villa! The shared female dorm is super clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are big and very very clean

The vibe was very good. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with anything. The food was also delicious. The quality-price ratio was worth it. The location is quite close to where you need to change your license to drive on your own in Sri Lanka and you also have car rental locations quite close.

The stuff so friendly and warm!! The housekeeper Dashari and The manager Anthony so friendly and helpful! All the other stuff also! 🙏😍We stayed at standard doubleroom with shared bathroom. The room was big and the bed so comfty! Good AC. And yu can have a good deasant price food from the restaurant, superdelicious pineapplejuice!!. The neibourghood was the best i have seen in Colombo! A big street close, but tiny tidy street this one, where the hotel was located, and also streets nearby. 😌☺️Temple area nearby and good shopping center also. Very much recommend this place to stay!!🙏

Worth every penny. Spacious, clean rooms. AC and hot shower were working perfectly fine. Huge common sitting area and pantry. There's also a facility to wash clothes. Highly recommended!

The beds were very comfy, great aircon, really fast wifi. The lounge room is so comfortable to hang out in and sit with other travellers. The hosts, particularly Shantha, are so incredibly kind. They helped me make plans for my entire Sri Lanka trip and checked in with me frequently to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. short walk to the beach.

The lady who runs the place is hilarious:) she is one of a kind and I usually forget fast hostel staffs but she definitely gonna stay in my memories:) she makes you breakfast, tells you everything you need to know, she is so naturally crazy funny, a real host, a very good host. The hostel is extremely basic but still and maybe because of this, socially extremely entertaining and perfect for the solo traveller young or old, It is a place where you can start your sri lankan trip. And trust me, the lady is so helpful and funny, you won’t regret this experience. Forget about professionalism, its a family :) its for easy-going backpackers. Or gladsome long termers with zero needs. It is extremely hard to find the property!!! only good souls with the fitting personality will make it xD

I don't understand some of the low scores because there's nothing wrong with this hotel. No, it's not like the cozy Guesthouses you find elsewhere in the country, but it's a spotless clean typical big city basic budget hotel like the ones you find elsewhere in the world. Basic, big enough room with a bed and a desk. Lots of power outlets to charge all your gadgets. The common bathrooms were kept clean at all times, and there were so many of them on each floor. A nice common room with tables and chairs, free tea and coffee, a nice rooftop sitting area, and excellent WiFi (to be Sri Lanka anyway). Friendly staff too. Superb location right in the thick of things in the Fort. Restaurants and bars literally on their doorstep.

Ideally located in the Kollupitiya district of Colombo, Backpack Lanka is set 3 km from Bambalapitiya Railway Station, 3.9 km from Khan Clock Tower and 5.6 km from R Premadasa Stadium.
