Ruka Ski Resort, in Kuusamo, Finland, is a premier skiing destination with over 130 kilometers of slopes for all levels. In summer, enjoy nature trails, fishing, biking, and golf. Access is easy, with Finnair offering direct flights from Helsinki to Kuusamo. Charter flights and flights from various European cities are also available. If you fly to Rovaniemi or Oulu, it's a 2.5-hour drive to Ruka-Kuusamo. While driving from Helsinki is long, it offers breathtaking scenery. Kuusamo Airport is 23 kilometers from Ruka; you can take a bus or taxi from there. For taxis, Rukataksi and OTAXI are reliable options. Renting a car is convenient, but pre-booking is advisable due to limited availability. Ruka Charter offers group bus trips, and Matkahuolto buses run from Kuusamo Airport to Ruka. Remember, winter driving requires experience; cars in Kuusamo come equipped with special winter tires. There are no direct trains to Ruka. In Ruka, RUOK Burger is a must to try, but try also Rukan Kaarna for local dishes, Ruka Peak for panoramic views, and Colorado Bar & Grill for a Western vibe.
