La Castagnère was built in the picturesque village of Castetnau-Camblong in 1650. It is nestled in a lush 4-acre island of greenery. It consists of a large main house and outbuildings. It can provide accommodation for ramblers/hikers, horse riders and pilgrims on thé Way of Saint James as well as for tourists eager to discover the wonders of the South-West. La Castagnère can offer nature-lovers in search of quietness, restfulness and serenity the perfect combination of old world charm and modern conveniences : two guest rooms for two, simple homemade meals prepared with our own produce and other local produce, recreational spaces, a wide range of cultural, physical and fun activities available nearby, La Castagnère will welcome you in an unsophisticated, convivial and hearty atmosphere. We are looking forward to receiving you in our lovely haven of peace, our ''happy house''
Ideally located between Béarn and the Basque Country, Le Domaine de la Castagnère is one hour from the Atlantic Ocean with Biarritz, Bayonne, Saint Jean de Luz, and one hour from the valleys of Ossau and Aspe, the Spanish border. Closer, 2 km away, Navarrenx, one of the first bastioned towns, one of the “Most beautiful villages in France”, the salmon capital… 17 km away Sauveterre de Béarn A fortified village facing the Pyrenees 22 km from Salies-de-Béarn City of Salt and Thermal Spa At our feet flows the Gave d'Oloron, the most famous of the salmon rivers in France, with a Rafting departure allowing a superb discovery of the valley. Several hikes that can be done on foot or by mountain bike, the GR65, the Puy route on the Compostela path. Tours are offered by the owner.
