Here at Koala, we are more than just a surf hostel, we are a family. This is why we have so many guests coming back year after year. With a spacious communal living area where you can cook, laugh and catch up, or if you prefer just grab one of our many books and take some quiet time in our chill out areas. Free use of surfboards and skateboards are included in the price!!!!!! The thing that’s so different about coming to a hostel over a private rental is that you get to meet people from all around the world, make new friends and share experiences. Koala is a place for passionate surfers from experienced to beginners, this means you are with a like-minded group of people to spend your time with. We had a total refit and with a brand new kitchen, dorms and bathrooms you’ll feel right at home in our stylish modern setup.

Lena has been living and surfing in Hossegor since 2004. Lena is from Sweden and she left her job as a famous tv-host and journalist, to opened her little surf hostel and live her dream and surf every day! After 16 years of Koala, Lena has designed the space to be bright warm and welcoming, a real home from home. Lena created Koala with a love for surfing and everything that Hossegor has to offer, that also comes with a passion for respecting the oceans and the environment. So here at Koala, we are committed to doing what we can to be conscious of our waste and recycling. Where possible we encourage our guests to use less packaging, buy local and try to leave the beach with at least one handful of litter you can find. We love the oceans, we love Hossegor.

Koala Surf House is situated in Hossegor on the French Atlantic coast. It is famous for its perfect beach-breaks, beautiful beaches and some of the best surf spots in Europe. Koala Surf House is 1-2 minutes walk from the world famous surf spots La Nord and La Gravière. Hossegor is claimed to be the surfing capital of Europe and is known for its powerful waves and has impressive world-class beach-breaks. We have a wide range of surfers staying with us of all abilities and experience. From beginners to pro’s you’ll always have someone to surf with or learn from. We have the privileged location of having world class surf breaks a 1-2 minute walk from the front door. You can jump straight in at La Gravière, La Nord, La Central and La Sud from the surf house offering a selection of shape and size that works on different swells and tides, so if you want to shred La Grav and have a more mellow ride at La Sud on the same day you can simply walk down the beach.
