Powis Castle, Welshpool (8 miles) A mediaeval castle, fortress and grand Country house which has beautiful gardens and walks. If you're lucky you may spot a deer or two in the grounds! Whilst having a browse around all the fabulous aisles, check out Howards Restaurant serving hot and cold food as well as Sunday Lunch. Rhiw Valley Light Railway, Welshpool (8 miles) A small narrow gauge railway set in a beautiful welsh valley. Run by volunteers and open on a selection of weekends throughout the year. Pistyll Rhaeadr, Llanrhaedr ym Mochnant (24 miles) Visit the highest waterfall in Wales located in the Berwyn Mountains. Lots of public footpaths to explore and a tea room to refuel in!
