Enjoy far reaching views at this cosy cottage, an excellent base for exploring Argyll or simply to take some time to unwind and listen to the birds. Lots to explore with beaches, waterfalls, Munros, lochs, towns or island hopping - all within minutes from the doorstep, you can make each day a new adventure. The cottage is fully equipped with all manner of mod cons to suit all seasons. We live next door, so any questions, advice or recommendations - we’ll be happy to help! This 2 bedroom cottage is cosy and compact, with well proportioned spaces. Built in 2017, it is well insulated, centrally heated with radiators controlled by a thermostat in the hallway. Open plan kitchen and living room which serves as a good space for relaxing, eating and socialising. The kitchen is well equipped with microwave, cooker, washing machine, fridge/freezer, the usual appliances and utensils. Dining table extends to seat 4 with 4 chairs available. In the living room is a two-seater sofa, small nest tables, two armchairs, Free Sat Smart TV and log burning stove. French windows that lead onto a large deck/veranda. There is space in the hallway to store coats, boots and other outdoor apparel or equipment. The twin bedroom has two single beds and a chest of drawers. The spacious double bedroom has a chest of drawers and double wardrobe. There is a good-sized hall cupboard with iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, clothes airer and shelving. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and shaver socket. Outside there is a picnic table with umbrella for the sunny days and seating under shelter for the rainy spells or for star gazing at night
Originally from Edinburgh, now living my dream life in Dalmally. I’m lucky to live in what feels like a postcard, with the mountains as a backdrop to my picture roll. I moved here with my family in January 2025 and we’re having fun exploring the area of Argyll. I have hopes and dreams of creating a wild meadow of flowers, living as sustainably as possible, growing our own veg, owning some animals and eventually building our forever home.
Fortingall is nestled in a friendly, rural community at the base of Beinn Donachin and surrounded by the mountains of Ben Cruachan, Ben Lui, Monadh Driseig, Stob Diamh and many more. The night sky will take your breath away with stars and sunsets. Wildlife is in abundance here. You might spot deer grazing, red squirrels, buzzards overhead alongside bats, herons and of course the highland cows all around here. Ben Cruachan and Ben Lui are two of the nearby Munros. However, we are surrounded by connecting hills, the “horseshoe” and lots of good walking routes from the end of our Stronmilchan Road or a little way along Glen Lochy and Glen Orchy. Kilchurn Castle & St.Conan's Kirk are a short drive or a longish walk from the cottage. Oban is around 30-40 mins drive away. Inveraray around 20-25 mins. Rannoch Moor and Glencoe are an easy 30-40 mins away. This is an excellent base for exploring this part of Scotland. We are around 1hr 15mins from Stirling, 1hr 30mins from Glasgow and 2hrs from Edinburgh. There is a local store at Glenview (5 mins drive) - Dalmally Village Store. It is stocked with essentials, plus a good variety of fresh and frozen food, and alcohol. Opening times vary throughout the year but during the summer months is usually open 7 days. Larger supermarkets, M&S and Tesco, are available in Oban. Local restaurants and cafes available at Loch Awe - a short drive away.
