Givendale holiday cottages offer guests the ultimate rural escape, where you can enjoy English countryside at its very best. Nestled on the banks of the River Ure, you can enjoy river and woodland walks straight from your doorstep. Fire up the bbq on your terrace or relax in the garden and orchard and enjoy far reaching views over the Dales and Ripon cathedral. The cottages are situated on the edge of the Newby Hall estate, one of England’s most remarkable stately homes and one of Adam’s finest, famous for its neoclassical interiors, gobelins tapestries, Chippendale furniture, roman statues and 25 acres of award-winning gardens (Givendale Cottage guests enjoy a 25% Newby Hall discount) Moat Cottage and Chantry Cottage when booked together offer the perfect accommodation for larger groups sleeping up to 9 people. The newly refurbished cottages are attached and share a spectacular outlook with private interlinking gardens and bbq terraces. The interiors are fresh, yet traditional with a warm, cosy colour scheme. Chantry Cottage (sleeps 5+) has a main sitting room with log burner and smart TV, a snug also with log burner and smart TV, a fully equipped kitchen with door opening out in to the garden and terraces, a downstairs loo and utility / boot room with washing machine and dryer. Upstairs; a south-facing master bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower room, a small pretty single room with views over the gardens, a double bedroom with Dales views and a family bathroom with washbasin, loo and shower over the bath. Moat Cotttage (sleeps 4) has; a small, inviting entrance hall with cloaks cupboard and boot rack, a spacious and light open-plan living/dining space with smart tv and a two-way log burner shared with the adjoining kitchen which opens out into the terraces and garden . Both bedrooms are sunny, south-facing with zip and link beds, so can be made up as superking or twin. The bathroom has a walk in shower, bath, loo and wash basin.
Tom and I were so excited to renovate the holiday cottages and open the doors to let guests come and experience this special part of Yorkshire. The views from Givendale really are beautiful and every morning when you open the curtains, there is always a spectacle of nature to ; be it the starling murmurations, running hares, playful lambs, deer, birds of prey. The walks around the property offer everything from river, woodland, lake and open fields and the stunning grounds of Newby Hall. There is so much to see and do nearby with Harrogate, Ripon, Masham and the Dales all within easy reach and some wonderful pubs and restaurants, which we have really enjoyed sharing with our guests. As a family of six we have loved adding to the guest experience with our incubated chicks about to start laying eggs as well as other fresh produce from the orchard and local produce which we will be offering guests this year.
