Spectacular sea views from this basic but charming Gower accommodation, with a country lane leading down to beautiful unspoiled Slade Bay, also called “The Sands”. The Cottage is a recently renovated, flat roofed, converted annex to West Winds; from which it is separated by a passageway. Sleeps 2 adults comfortably, but can be used for a family of 4 using the small second bedroom. The Cottage has its own drive, parking area and a terrace for outdoor dining with a superb sea view. Caution: there are steep wooden "ladder style" stairs in the Cottage, and beach access requires a scramble. The Cottage is set in the southernmost part of the Slade Valley, overlooking the sea, on the Gower Peninsula. The terrace of the Cottage has spectacular sea views, and the small house is suitable for people who appreciate the peaceful coastal setting. Gower is an area of “Outstanding Natural Beauty”, with sandy beaches and cliffs, prehistoric sites, and many castles and churches. From the Cottage it is half a mile down a footpath, followed by a scramble across rocks, to reach The Sands. Slade Bay has an unspoiled sandy beach, ideal for swimming and surfing, with rockpools to explore. From the beach there are coastal paths of “a country mile” to the villages of Oxwich or Port Eynon. Here there are sandy beaches with car parks, pubs, fish & chips, and restaurants: The Beach House in Oxwich having a Michelin star. The Cottage is at the side of West Winds, separated from the main house by a narrow passage. The Cottage can be rented with West Winds (which sleeps 8) or separately: since the Cottage has its own driveway, parking area, and outside terrace. On entering West Winds there are 2 lions on the gateposts, and after about 20 yards there is a turning to the left to the Cottage up a steep drive.

This is a family holiday home owned by Mrs Jill Hansel, and Westwinds and the Cottage have been rented out to guests over the past 20 years. Jill likes hiking, skiing and playing tennis but especially being on the Gower Peninsula with her family and friends.

The Gower Peninsula is an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the Cottage is in a particularly unspoiled section. Westwinds is set in over an acre of sloping land, with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean towards Lundy Island. The Sands are reached by a country lane and a short scramble down a gully and over the rocks. In nearby Oxwich Bay and Port Eynon Bay are pubs and restaurants: and the Oxwich Beach House has been awarded a Michelin Star. There are wonderful coastal walks all over the Gower Peninsula, and surfing at Langland and Llanrhidian.
