Información del alojamiento

Low Nook Cottage is a lovely & quirky holiday cottage dating back to the 1800s. Recently refurbished throughout, the property offers modern contemporary decor. On the ground floor of the property, there is the kitchen fitted with a fridge, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, and kitchen appliances of a microwave, kettle and toaster. There is crockery and dining space for three in the kitchen. The bathroom is also on the ground floor with a gorgeous stood bath with a shower attachment, loo, and basin. At the end of the hallway is a storage cupboard that would be great for your coats and shoes after a day of exploring the Fells or the beaches of the west coast. The first floor has a double bedroom with Queen sized bed, a feature fireplace, chair, and sash windows with a view of the cobbled courtyard outside. And a single room with a full-sized single bed that also has sash windows and a view of the courtyard. Up another few stairs is the cosy living room with views of the courtyard at the front and the neighbouring garden at the back of the property from the sash windows. In here are two comfy sofas, chair, footstool, storage cabinet, a toasty gas 'wood-burner', TV with an Internet connection so you can access streaming services like Netflix, ITV Player, BBC iPlayer just log in with your own account. Please note there is no aerial connected to the TV Dogs aren't permitted. While infants are welcome at the property there are no baby gates, highchairs or travel cots. There isn't parking directly at the property but there is plenty of free parking in the square a short walk away and on the many neighbouring streets. There is one step into the property, then 10 up to the first floor, then another 10 up to the living room. As this is an old cottage it has some charming original features like low beams/doorways/ceilings, and uneven or steep steps so please be careful and mind your head and your step!

Información de la zona

Broughton-in-Furness is a beautiful, traditional market village located on the Southwestern border of the Lake District National Park. As such its is quiet and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the towns, but the tourist towns of Coniston, Ambleside, Grasmere and Bowness-on-Windermere are still very accessible within a 30-40 minute drive of the cottage. For an adventure closer to Broughton-in-Furness you will find beaches at Askam and Silecroft, the trails on the fells of the Duddon, Dunnerdale and Esk Valleys, Golf courses at Dunnerholm and Eskdale, and attractions at Muncaster Castle, and the Ravenglass Railway. The Duddon Valley is lovely for walks too, with the traditional Newfield Inn at the end of the valley, serving great food and real ales in front of the roaring fire. Right at your doorstep, you will find lots of local history as the village itself dates back to the 11th century, the oldest building is thought to be St. Mary's Church. The focal point of the Georgian market square is the obelisk, built to mark the jubilee of King George III in 1810. Also surviving from these days are the stocks for misbehavers, and the fish slabs nearby used to sell fish caught in the nearby River Duddon. The best way to travel in this area is by car, bicycle or foot. But if you are travelling by train, the local station is Foxfield Train Station. The railway station is a "request stop" on the scenic Cumbrian Coast Line. You will need to purchase tickets ahead of time, as this is an unmanned train station, and pre-arrange a taxi to take you from Foxfield to Broughton-in-Furness.
