This fabulous recently modernised centrally located 1920's detached cottage is home from home with lots of original features and ground floor living. Including an open fire, original wood floors, oak dining table and kitchen surfaces alongside welcoming plush grey sofas and high quality accessories. Meadowside sleeps five guests plus 1 further person on pull out trundle in single room in the three bedrooms. There is complimentary health spa access at Choices, Windermere for the duration of your stay for up to 6 guests. The health spa is a short stroll around the corner from Meadowside, approx 0.2 miles. Meadowside has a shed that can be used for bike storage. The cottage hosts three bedrooms; a super-king-size, a king-size and a single with a trundle, along with a snug with open fire, bathroom, cloakroom, and the benefit of a large private garden with ample parking. Meadowside is centrally situated just 1 mile from Windermere centre and 3 miles from Ambleside yet in a peaceful and quiet area. Pub and convenience store are approximately 0.2 miles away. Local walks can be accessed from the doorstep as can the bus which travels regularly to the southern lake district villages and towns. Please Note: There is a single step into the bathroom/shower room and also the separate W.C. There is also 2 steps into the property. Care needed in the garden/patio - there are steps from the property to the first patio and a further flight of steps (quite steep) to sunken garden. The ground is uneven crazy paving. A garden shed can be accessed for bike storage at your own risk and care should be taken when accessing this via steps. There are several high walls to the sunken meadow and garden - children should be supervised at all times. Sorry no pets, no smoking, no single sex groups, stag or hen parties or similar. NB from 1st October 2025 twin beds in bedroom 2 (super king size room) are no longer available.
We have been welcoming guests to Meadowside since early 2021 when we lovingly restored the beautiful 1920’s cottage. We continue to enhance Meadowside and have done so recently with the addition of a new terrace and glass balustrade. We love visiting Meadowside and the many door step walks. Some of our favourites include Orrest Head, Wansfell Pike and heading up to the Mortal Man in Troutbeck. We are also fond of Treetops at Brockholes and heading to the lake from there to catch the local ferry. We continue to strive to make your holiday special, so that you can enjoy our lovely cottage as much as we do. Many of our previous guests have commented on the fabulous location and our returning guests continue to enjoy all that is on offer. We look forward to welcoming you to Meadowside Windermere.
Meadowside is in a quiet area with mountain views in Troutbeck Bridge an ideal central Lakeland position. Windermere 1.1 mile; Ambleside 3 miles; Kendal 10 miles. Door step walks, spa, pub, convenience store and regular busses accessing South Lakeland all within a short stroll. The National Trusts Brockholes is in walking distance approximately 1 mile away which has treetop ropes and nets, lake access and boat trips to the neighbouring towns of Ambleside and Bowness on Windermere. Convenience store, pub and spa approximately 0.2 miles from Meadowside. Meadowside offers 3 beautiful bedrooms for 5 guests and additional 6th on the pull out floor trundle bed in the single room. See property and rooms for more information. The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is also within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
