Penygelli is a family run business run by Zoe and Phil.
Penygelli has been in Zoe's family since the 1960's when her grandparents first brought the farm and was run as a working farm. In 1980 her parents inherited the farm - in the early 80's the house had no central heating, well water and needed a lot of work! Zoe's Dad (Mike) put in all the central hearing, converted to mains water and renovated the house in time for Zoe and her two sisters to be born!
When Zoe was growing up in the house it was run as a B&B by her parents till they retired from this sometime in the early 90's the house was then converted into studio apartments where semi permanent tenants moved in.
Zoe & Phil decided to take over the front of the property in 2015 and renovated 2 of the upstairs apartments for private guest accommodation - which is where we're at today!
The house is accessed via a single track drive from Wern Ddu lane (which is also single track) and was built by Mike and his brother (Albert) in the early 1980's.
This is an old farm property with period features. We have 2 cockapoo's Lola and Bobby who are always contained away from guests arriving.
After moving away from Newtown and living in Cardiff and Australia for a number of years Zoe moved back to the area where she and Phil had grown up together.
In 2014 Zoe & Phil renovated 2 of the upstairs apartments into holiday lets and in 2015 they had their first (and only!) daughter Georgia.
Phil is now a stay at home dad and runs the business and Zoe works as Chief Executive for Mid Wales Tourism
Normal, down to earth people - Phil likes football and Zoe likes a good G&T! :)
Friendly, chatty and chilled people - Life is too short to be uptight! If you're a happy easy going person then Penygelli is the place for you!
Newtown is an old market town in Mid Wales. There are loads of activities to do around the area and there's a market every Tuesday in the town.
Good food with a couple of highly recommended restaurants including a Michelin star restaurant in Montgomery.
Although we're only a mile from the town and easily walk-able, the walk does include walking down a single track lane so if that's not for you then taxis all know us and it's about 6 pounds into/from town.
Newtown has a number of pubs (including a wetherspoons) but also a lot of more 'local pubs' where you can get local ales and beers.
Each apartment can be made into a twin or super king sized double. Please inform the property of your preference at the time of booking using the Special Requests box.
