You’ll find our team hard at work in a traditional, converted stone carriage building in sleepy Elterwater, at the gateway of the stunning Great Langdale Valley. From here, we help people find all sorts of charming local hideaways, from converted barns to rambling stone-built parsonages. So whatever sort of Lake District break you’re looking for, give us a shout and we’ll use our in-depth local expertise to find you a place you’ll love.
Phone us and you’ll be talking to Denise, Helen, Pip or Julie – all with years of knowledge about what makes our region great. Whether you’re looking for walks, cream teas, paddling, peddling or paragliding, they’ll point you in the right direction. And if you need anything sorting out during your stay, just give us a buzz and our team of locally based housekeepers, handymen and problem solvers will be on it in a flash.
Best wishes, and take care.

Información del alojamiento
Stickle Cottage is a historic traditional two storey Lakeland farmhouse providing spacious accommodation for up to eight guests.
It is right in the heart of the Great Langdale Valley, one of the most spectacular valleys in the Lake District.
Downstairs there is a large porch area great for rucksacks and boots, a modern shower room, a spacious lounge with a multi-fuel stove and large dining table. Accessed from the lounge is one of the large twin bedrooms. To the rear of the house is the spacious kitchen and additional dining area.
Upstairs are three more bedrooms consisting of a twin room, spacious double bedroom and a further spacious double with en-suite facilities, and the main family bathroom.
The position of this cottage really has to be seen to be believed – step out of the door and you have some of the best low and high level walks in the Lake District. The less strenuous approach takes you along the fantastic valley carved out of the rock millions of years ago by a glacier. More strenuous takes you up Dungeon Ghyll famous for rock climbing or to Stickle Tarn dominated by the ominous Pavey Ark. Thrill seekers can attempt the notorious “Jacks Rake” with almost sheer drops hundreds of feet down to the tarn below or to the right is “Easy Gulley”, but don’t be fooled by the name!! The rest of the Langdale Pikes are easily reached from the cottage.
Outside there is parking for up to three cars. To the rear is a large enclosed garden with fruit trees.
Please note that this property requires a damage deposit which will be taken prior to arrival.
Información de la zona
The fairly steep-sided valley shelters the Langdales from town lights. Both Great Langdale and Little Langdale are great spots for dark skies, an ideal place to really connect with the often hidden night sky!
The famous climbers inn The Old Dungeon Ghyll with its quaint bar and sloping floor is a short walk down the valley.
The property is on a main bus route with a bus stop approximately 50 yards from the front door. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after this spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow countryside lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!
Ambleside is just under 6 miles away and Great Langdale is close to access the neighbouring villages of Grasmere and Hawkshead.
