THE SHIRE HOUSE is grade II listed and dates from 1780. Situated in the heart of Lostwithiel and with the river Fowey just 30 steps away. This is a Georgian town house with a walled garden full of sun. Expect lots of character, with contemporary design, combined with up to the minute amenities. There is no dedicated parking, but other guests have always easily managed to find parking on Quay Street, just by the house. And your pets are very welcome, and free of charge, so no need to leave your best furry friend behind. The Shire House has four bedrooms – three king and one double. The house sleeps eight plus the ‘very best’ folding single bed and two baby cots. Note you will need to bring any other baby equipment. This self-catering house has a spacious kitchen with dining table, lovely lounge, and two bathrooms. There is a supply of logs for the woodburner in the kitchen and bed linen and towels are provided. The spacious and modern kitchen has up to the minute appliances, Bosch hob, oven, microwave, Rangemaster fridge freezer with ice maker, dishwasher and a table seating 8. Perfect for dining at home and so cosy with a wood burning stove. The family bathroom with bath and shower on the first floor and the tiled wet room on the ground floor with a walk in shower and exhilarating body jets. A lovely lounge with double aspect view, flooded with sunlight and with views over the river Fowey. Make yourself comfortable with 2 sofas, 49" smart TV wired to the internet and bluetooth enabled stereo. Each bedroom has USB and there is fast wifi 50 Mbps. There are also 2 Minirigs provided for you so you can indulge yourself with music. The Minirigs are bluetooth enabled or wire connect. Move them anywhere you want music. There are laundry facilities, washing machine, tumble dryer, washing line, airer, ironing board and iron. A pretty garden with outside space with a large table and four benches. Book now or risk unspeakable disappointment.

LOSTWITHIEL has a rich heritage and lies wrapped in the hills beside the river Fowey and 800 years ago was the capital of Cornwall. Situated amidst some of Cornwall's finest scenery, with easy access to the sandy beaches of the South Coast, rural Bodmin Moor, the small coastal towns of Fowey, Charlestown, Polperro and Looe, and the stunning surfing beaches of the North Coast. The Eden Project is about 10 drive away. Nearby Restormel Castle is packed with history or enjoy Lanhydrock House, a gem in the National Trust attractions. The Roseland Peninsula offers a quieter taste of Cornwall and the beaches of Pendower, Gorran Haven and St Mawes are within easy reach. A hop over to the North coast showcases Cornwall's diverse seascapes with high cliffs and rolling surf. Today Lostwithiel is a pretty and vibrant town, the antiques capital of Cornwall and perfect for exploring the beautiful Fowey valley. Cosmopolitan Fowey, just 7 miles away, and the North coast such as Padstow, St. Ives, Newquay about 45 minutes away by car. It has everything you need for a happy time, Co-op supermarket, butcher, baker, chemist, deli, hair boutique, fish and chip shop, Chinese takeaway, four restaurants (one Michelin starred), two Indian restaurants and four pubs that all serve excellent food . If sailing is a family favourite pastime then head to nearby Fowey for a nautical adventure. If cycling is something that appeals then enjoy cycling at Lanhydrock and Cardinham woods which have designated cycle trails. And of course there is the Camel trail following a disused railway line. Horse riding? get in touch with Jane at Polmartin Riding which is 9 miles East of Lostwithiel. There are lots of lovely walks. A favourite walk with my dog is Lostwithiel to St Winnow and across the fields to St Winnow Mill and onto creekside village of Lerryn. And you will want to go to the beach. Cornwall’s 300+ beaches are gloriously varied from iconic sandy beaches to intimate sheltered coves.
