Strolling through the central streets leading to the Castle of Barolo you can still breathe in the air the same atmosphere that inspired Juliette Colbert (Giulia Falletti di Barolo, wife of Marquis Tancredi Falletti di Barolo) and her oenologist collaborators when they first vinified Barolo wine. The story goes that one day the Marquise Falletti offered King Charles Albert 325 ‘carrà’ of Barolo - one for each day of the year except for the Lenten period of abstinence - because the King had expressed a desire to taste ‘her new wine’. King Carlo Alberto was enthusiastic about the wine he had received as a gift and after this episode Barolo went down in history as the Wine of Kings, King of Wines. Since then, little by little, the small village of 700 inhabitants has become a destination for many visitors from all over the world who are passionate about wine and gastronomy, and who wish to admire the wine-growing landscapes that were recognised as a UNESCO heritage site in 2014. Thanks to its central location, from BaroLOFT you can comfortably walk to restaurants, wine shops, cafés, wineries and attractions of considerable cultural interest such as the Castle of Barolo (which houses the wine museum and one of the richest collections of labels in the world) and the Corkscrew museum.
