Powysland Estate and Bungalow is owned by L.P. Fernando & Sons (a family company). The late Mr. L.P. Fernando purchased the estate in 2007 and developed it into one of the region’s most successful plantations, earning the National Presidential Award for Best Private Tea Estate (2013/2014). A lifelong tea planter, Mr. Lasantha P. Fernando devoted his career to Sri Lanka’s tea industry, serving in respected companies such as Ceylon Tea Plantation Company Ltd., The Standard Tea Company Ltd., and managing several renowned estates including Bogawantalawa, St. Leonards, and Kirkoswald. His deep passion for tea and commitment to excellence shaped Powysland into the highest-yielding tea plantation in the upcountry region.
