The Artist's Cottage is a three bedroom villa situated in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of Ahangama. The small village of Goviyapana is 5 minutes from Ahangama town, but only 2 minutes from the gorgeous surfing and swimming beaches of Goviyapa, Midigama and Ahangama. Our expansive Ayurvedic garden wraps around the villa creating a calming and peaceful atmosphere. Our garden has over 100 banana, guava, cashew, neem, curry, cinnamon, and coconut trees (just to name a few). The house has two security dogs who live on the property. They are incredibly friendly to guests, but do the best job at keeping unwanted visitors out. (THey have a knack for differentiating). The house was renovated with sustainable ethos - so we do ask for you to conserve energy and water when staying with us. There is a filtering system for drinking water to help you reduce plastic consumption during your stay. There is a large open living area surrounded by windows and a lush green garden which can easily seat 10 people (although we dont have enough beds for this many guests). Two rooms are private ensuite bedrooms with air-conditioning and one "glamping" fan-cooled bedroom attached to the living room which has the antique tile ceiling (meaning you can hear outside and living room noises). The large suite has a private patio with a private bathtub. The fan-only room has a long couch which could make a third single bed, as well as an outdoor working space and private garden view. All rooms are on seperate sides of the house offering a vast, spacious setting. The villa has a key-pad entry and fiber optic internet, as well as many different work spaces for you to work with a relaxed and calm vibe.

The owner and manager of the house is a professional writer who has hosted numerous retreats in Sri Lanka over the past 10 years. She lived in the house throughout the pandemic with her seven year old son before re-settling in Bali. Kori is a wealth of information in the area and is always happy to assist you with scooter rental, surf spot recommendations, cafe tips, and more. Just ask! She is always available to answer any questions you have so please dont be shy.

Ahangama is undeniably Sri Lanka's newest hot-spot. The town is home to many amazing resturants, cafes and surf breaks, while still maintaining a slow, quiet village-life charm. The Artist's Cottage is within walking distance to the waves of Govipana, a short bike ride to Midigama's Lazy Left and Ahangama's main Kabalana breaks. Our favorite daily activity is to walk to the Lighthouse for a jazzy, comforting sunset session. Unlike many other areas of Ahanagma, there are no loud bars or resturants, so the house is a peaceful sanctuary from the fun of the area. It is incredibly easy to enjoy a peaceful week, month, or year in the area without getting bored. Just ask Kori she has spent plenty of time here. But if you are wanting a peaceful place to get away and surf while finishing creative projects - this house was more certainly built for you.
