Información de la zona

The apartment complex "Ziemeļblāzmas Aleja" is located in a place that was inhabited by fishermen in ancient times, as it is located near the mouth of the Daugava River into the sea. In Vecmīlgrāvis stands the architectural monument of Latvia – the Ziemeļblāzma Palace of Culture, which is surrounded by a large 5-hectare park. The Ziemeļblāzma Palace of Culture was built in 1913 by the woodworker and patron Augusts Dombrovskis to provide the surrounding residents with a full social and cultural life. The palace became one of the most prominent cultural and educational centers not only in Riga, but throughout Latvia. Cultural work and processes at “Ziemeļblāzma” have been organized over the years, following the formula of A. Dombrovskis: “To a clear mind through knowledge, to a clear mind through culture, to a clear mind through a healthy lifestyle.” This purposeful formula has served as a motto, preserving and developing cultural traditions and promoting creative innovations. In 2013, the centenary of the “Ziemeļblāzma” palace is celebrated, but a few years ago the palace was in an extremely poor technical and visual condition, so with the support of the Riga Municipality, a thorough renovation was initiated in 2011 so that the cultural palace rich in traditions would flourish in all its glory again on its centenary. Both the building of the cultural palace, the park, and the objects in it were reconstructed as a single complex, preserving its historical value and architectural and artistic uniqueness. The building is located in a 5-hectare park, which was established in 1904, but is currently under the management of the municipal agency "Rīgas dārzi un parki". In 1908, Augusts Dombrovskis built a two-story wooden building in Vecmīlgrāvi – a house for writers and artists. The name of the house – Burtnieku nams – came about in discussions with Krišjānis Barons.
