With three national parks right on the doorstep, each offers its own unique experience. Abel Tasman National Park is a personal favourite—especially Kaiteriteri—with its golden beaches, turquoise waters, and relaxed coastal walks (or a kayak if you’re feeling adventurous). Kahurangi National Park is a vast, remote wilderness, ideal for hiking and immersing yourself in nature, particularly along the iconic Heaphy Track. Nelson Lakes National Park provides something different again, with alpine forests, dramatic mountains, and crystal-clear glacial lakes—perfect for anything from a gentle lakeside stroll to a multi-day tramp. Golden Bay is another favourite spot, home to Pohara, Takaka, Collingwood, Farewell Spit and more. With its stunning beaches, diverse landscapes, and relaxed atmosphere, it always feels like a special escape. It’s this variety—coastal, alpine, wilderness, and everything in between—that makes the Nelson region so inspiring every day.

I've got two kids, aged 11 and 7, so family-friendly adventures are always on the cards. I'm also a big fan of badminton and enjoy exploring new places.
