2 fully Self-Contained Seaside Accommodation in The Catlins Area, Owaka, South Otago. Stay a while and enjoy all of the secrets of the Catlins, its splendid wild coastline, deserted beaches, waterfalls, walking tracks, magnificent native trees and much more. Don't rush or you will miss the seal pups playing below the Lighthouse and Surat Bay during the summer months. From dawn to dusk your day will be full. Those that rush will miss the best the Catlins has to offer. Kepplestone by the Sea was created as B & B accommodation approx 1989 and has been catering to visitors from all over the world. I (Jane) have provided affordable accommodation in the Catlins area. As of 2008 we now have converted our separate bedrooms away from the main house, we supply continental breakfast to the units. Our accommodation is a short walk (100 metres) to the sealion beach and short drive to the coast ( 5 minutes) from Owaka, (1hr. 15min) from Dunedin airport, (2 hrs) from Invercargill. Payment: NZ cheque, internet/ on-line banking, master/visa card on arrival. If paid by visa, 3% addition
I (Jane) aim to make your stay an experience you will not forget as we have done to hundreds before you. Most of my guests find me by a recommendation from friends and fellow travelers. This was a quite spot mainly frequented by overseas visitors who are familiar with the Catlins and its wildlife, and now New Zealanders are aware of the Catlins and their numbers have been rising steadily. We offer some of New Zealand's biggest selection of wildlife. NZ fur seals, Hooker Sealions (now renamed NZ sealions) and the Yellow-eyed-Penguin. For the bird enthusiasts, Catlins has a large collection of bush and sea birds. Our beached are still deserted and there are many excellent walks. It is our aim to make your stay in the Catlins informative and an assurance you will see all the wildlife. If have enjoyed your stay, recommend us to your friends as a personal recommendation something to cherish and return again. Have a happy holiday.
Take a deep breath and enjoy our fresh air at Surat Bay. Watch the beautiful sunrise at dawn, and hear our native birds and seabirds chorus as they rise for the new day at the Nugget Lighthouse Reserve. Surat Bay is a peaceful, tiny beach settlement on the coast between Invercargill and Dunedin in the Catlins, South Otago. Kepplestone-By-The Sea offers two simple and comfortable fully self-contained cabins, with linen and continental breakfast supplies included. Explore its unusual geological formations including Cathedral Caves, Jack's Blowhole and the Petrified Forest at Curio Bay. We offer New Zealand's biggest selection of wildlife: Yellow-eyed penguins, Hector's Dolphins, New Zealand Fur Seals and Sealions. Sometimes during the summer you may see Sea Elephants and Leopard Seals. Every corner has something for you to enjoy. We have new information, 3 restaurants/ cafes, petrol (24hrs) service, 4 square supermarket, garage, pharmacy, medical centre which 5 minutes drive away rom our small village Owaka. To see it all needs good planing as many sights require a low tide and wildlife have their own timetable. Take the time to rest in our peaceful surroundings.
