Julie and Eric Haberichter are looking forward to welcoming you to Goldberry Woods. We are college sweethearts who both became engineers. We honeymooned at a B&B in Hawaii which was a working flower farm. After that experience, we have continued to stay at bed & breakfasts whenever we get the chance. We also vowed that someday we would become innkeepers ourselves. The Haberichters lived in the busy Chicago suburbs but began spending every possible moment vacationing in Harbor Country. On a week-long family vacation in 2011, we stumbled across the old River’s Edge B&B in Union Pier. The property was close to the beach with beautiful woods and enough pasture to create a biodiverse micro farm. It included two summer cottages and an Innkeeper’s House so that our young family would have a bit of private space. Though we thought that there may be too many obstacles, every detail fell into place in a serendipitous fashion and Goldberry Woods opened May, 2012. So here we are, and we are all-in. We are so in love with Harbor Country, and we are just dying to share it with you!

Welcome to Goldberry Woods! We have a b&b, cottages/houses, heated pool and hot tub, organic farm, fruit and nut orchard, hiking trails, and over 30 acres to explore here at Goldberry Woods. We are also located less than a mile from the beaches of Lake Michigan and have over a ½ mile of frontage along the Galien River. All stays in the B&B include complimentary local wine/snacks in evening from 5-7 pm, and a fresh, hot breakfast featuring local ingredients. All rooms include a custom-built queen bed, gas fireplace, double Jacuzzi tub, Wi-Fi, and a large screen TV with satellite and a Blu-ray DVD player. We have canoes and kayaks to enjoy on our river as well as bikes to explore the beaches or back roads, weather permitting. We also have a selection of board games to play, DVD’s to borrow, and discounts on area wine tastings. We also offer two private cottages for rental on our property. Our 4 br/4 bath River’s Edge Cottage features over 2,800 sq ft and our 3 br/2 bath Creekside cottage features 1,300 sq ft of space. Each can accommodate 8-12 guests.

Explore Harbor Country There are countless things to do in Harbor Country. The Chamber of Commerce is a great resource for events and festivals, dining, shopping, beaches and bike trails…just about anything you can think of! Did you know this part of Michigan has more than a dozen wineries and a beautiful botanical garden? You can take a leisurely stroll up Red Arrow Highway to explore the countless antique shops, art galleries, and small cafes amongst the small towns of Harbor Country. Maybe it is a bargain at the nearby outlet mall that peaks your interest or try your hand at Lady Luck at the local casino. Golf, fishing, and horseback riding are available and there are also plenty of fantastic local restaurants and microbrews as well. Lastly, don't forget to make time for the amazing sunsets on the quiet, local beaches!
