Perched up on a hill in Sodwana Bay in rural Zululand, it is upstairs with sweeping dune & lake views. It is rural and is located 2kms from the main tar road on a single, sandy track. The bright, open-plan space has a king-size bed & aircon (twin beds on request) The bathroom has a shower & towels are provided. There is a lounge area with a flat screenTV (Dstv compact). The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, 2-plate gas stove, kettle & toaster. There is a large outside deck with a gas braai. The cottage is serviced on request (every day except Sundays). Guests can enjoy the local sights & sounds while sipping a sundowner on the deck - the distant lighthouse turning on Jesser Point, Nguni cattle being herded past, chickens roosting for the night, a local soccer game on the nearby field & an incredible night sky filled with stars. We live on the property but guests have their own private entrance. The whole property is secured with an electric fence. Unfortunately Sodwana does experiences power & water cuts - we have a small back up generator that we can run for short periods for you to shower & charge. 4x4 not needed but not suitable for very low cars.
I have lived in Sodwana Bay for almost 20 years. I used to work in the dive industry but now I run a small beach/ clothing shop and do accommodation and activity bookings.
Sodwana Bay is a scuba-diving, fishing and nature-lover’s paradise. The whole village is in the bush behind the high sand dunes. Although it is not far from town, the cottage is very rural and situated among the local homesteads & natural bush.
