His English is really good and his sense of humour even better. His knowledge of the area and itinerary suggestions worked very well for us. We’d highly recommend the local izakaya 800m from his place.

We went there at the end of our 2 1/2 week Japan travel for three nights. This is a wonderful retreat with an outstanding Onsen experience (three mixed outside hot spring onsen pools and another one outside onsen for woman only. All have a relaxing waterfall view. We were supplied with Yukata clothing and had delicious Kaiseki meals. On our last morning, without asking for it, we received a continental breakfeast instead of the Japanese one. We participated in a nice star gazing tour and did a great hike to the marshland (about 12 km, 4 hours there and back). We strongly recommend to come for more than one night, as travel there takes almost a day.

Amazing authentic cultural and culinary experience with a wonderful attention to detail. Staff is very kind and welcoming, and the language barrier is manageable. Rural location next to a charming river in a beautiful landscape.

I love matcha, so I experienced a traditional tea ceremony during my stay. Along with the tea ceremony, I also had the opportunity to learn about Zen from the host, making it a truly meaningful experience. Additionally, since I had communicated my arrival time with the host via email before heading to the log house from Tobu Nikko Station, the transfer went smoothly, and I felt reassured throughout the process.

The facility was very nice and seemed to be recently renovated. The location is very convenient - close to a bus stop and to Heiki no Sato. The room was spacious, clean and bright - very comfortable. We enjoyed the private bath. Although it was described as indoor, we were delighted to find that it had full-length windows looking out onto nature so it felt out door to us! The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. :)
