The hotel is gorgeous, with large rooms and comfortable beds. Everything is spotless and new. Given the time of year, it was also beautifully decorated. We are definitely coming back. The staff were extremely helpful and always ready to help. They provided us with a baby cot and baby towels. We had a midnight flight after checkout and we could leave our bags secure during the day to walk around. Also, they let us use the baby changing room throughout the day, which was extremely helpful.

Plaza Mayor

The Spanish Inquisition left Plaza Mayor with a bloody history. Once a centre for executions and bullfights, today it’s chic and cosmopolitan. The 400-year-old equestrian statue of King Philip III watches over the restaurants, artisan shops and street artists that occupy the square. Explore the side streets and you'll find speciality calamari sandwich shops.

Starting point for the tour.Beautiful city, people are positive and cheerful. Food is great. Big city that has a rich history and a new modern side. Definitely a city to visit and explore. Football fans also have a reason to come. Two beautiful stadiums, one near the airport (Metropolitan), and the other in the modern part of the city (Bernabéu).

I would recommend visiting Plaza Mayor for its stunning architecture and vibrant atmosphere. It's a perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely stroll, savor delicious tapas at nearby cafes, and soak in the local culture. The square often hosts events and performances, making it a lively hub that captures the essence of Madrid.

All roads lead to Plaza Mayor.

All roads lead to Plaza Mayor. Enjoy the ambience, wander around, take plenty of photos but do not buy anything. Over priced tourist tat. Do not be tempted to wander into any cafe, bar or restaurant - over priced and not the real Spain. Make an effort to go where the locals go and you'll see the difference. Great place, let the free tour guide tell you all about it.

The accommodation is located in a prime location, walking distance to Plaza Mayor, metro stations, cercanías trains, supermarkets and more. The apartment itself is very comfortable, well equipped and with everything you might need for a comfortable stay in Madrid. The apartment mentions a "balcony" but is just a french balcony, so its a bit misleading. Wasn't a problem for us but to keep in mind. I appreciate that they gave me a call to ask how everything was and to confirm the security deposit was reimbursed.

Within easy walking distance of so much of what Madrid has to offer. Next to the bustling Plaza Mayor and its many restaurants. The apartment was well equipped with everything you would need for a short stay. Spacious, light and cosy.. Bedroom being at the back of the apartment was quiet, even when the Plaza was extremely busy. Bed very comfortable.

  • Don't go to any of the "eat as much as you can".

Don't go to any of the "eat as much as you can". It was the only tourist trap we encountered. North to Plaza Mayor street you'll find very good and fancy restaurants. South to this street you will find great othentic Spanish and south American restaurants and a little bit further you'll find real othentic and very good chinese restaurants.
