Not much to see in the center of Athens, other than restaurant and souvenir shops. Maybe there are things to see but not advertised properly, so the visitors do not get to know. In the Syntagma Square area we visited the Old Palace, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, the National Garden, the Zapeion, the Zapeion Roman Baths, Hadrian's Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium and the ruins of Aristotle's Gymnasium. Great square with step up to climb to see Parliament House and the change of guards. There a side path too of you cannot inn steps. The beautiful garden are onky 5 minutes walk away. A, must see. Tastefully refurbished, well equipped and very comfortable. We booked the 1st floor apartment, which was well sized and has Juliet balconies overlooking the quiet street of Afroditis (which links on to Adriannou - one of the oldest commercial streets in Athens which runs from the Acropolis through Plaka to Monistiraki).
