Staying at Markree Castle was definitely the highlight of our 3-week trip around Ireland. We felt so fortunate that we decided on Markree after conducting meticulous research on Irish castle stays. It was our first time staying in a castle and we felt like royals! We loved exploring the historical castle, and there was even more to take in than we expected - from a great number of beautifully decorated rooms and spaces to the abbey and the lovely grounds. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and all the staff were most kind and helpful. Our room was very elegant, clean and had a nice view as well. Our stay was magical and didn't lack a thing!

My stay was excellent! The host was very kind and welcoming, just like the whole house — cozy and pleasant. I was able to leave my bike in a convenient and safe place. Our room was quiet, with a small view out to the ocean (only just, but it was enough). The rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly. The included breakfast was basic, but was nothing to complain about - it was nice enough and did the job.
