The El BIFE DEL ABUELO (lamb steak with gravy and eggs) is a must!!

The location of this accommodation is very remote, 1 hour drive from Puerto Rio Tranquilo. We didn't realize this when we booked. The location and setting is however very unique and beautiful. You need your own transport, and requires a bit of planning (there are no restaurants around). We really enjoyed our stay, the rooms, beds, bedding, towels are all of a higher quality than we had previously seen in Chili. Hence also a big higher price. But well worth it!

Patagonia is a luxurious mountain lodge set against the panoramic backdrop of the snow-capped Andes. It offers 4 exclusive suites with free Wi-Fi and balconies with views of Coyhaique Valley. Ruth and her team are doing things right. It starts with the friendly staff (and perky rescue pets) at check-in. The rooms are impeccable. High-quality matress and bedding, beautiful wood materials, very nice bathroom with walk-in shower and excellent water pressure (not always a given in this part of the country). Large picture frame windows offering views of the surrounding scenery. The grounds are well kept with a focus on endemic species of trees and plants. We had dinner at their restaurant. Again, service with a smile and really good food. Breakfast was buffet style, with cooked-to-order eggs, a selection of pastries, meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, fresh baked bread, fruits, juices, etc. etc. We traveled around Chile for about a month, and this was hands down our favorite place.

This is the most beautiful place. We have been in Chile for three weeks travelling, and this has been our favourite stay for lots of reasons. It felt like home, with all we needed thoughtfully provided. The cabin, the level of comfort and space, and the view are exceptional. Best of all was the welcome we received from our hosts who are the loveliest people who made everything easy and recommended local restaurants and things to do locally. We had a great hike, and visited the local museum. Two great restaurants are in easy walking distance and the town is close enough to walk to. We were sad to leave!
