I have been to Aswan three times before and even to this Nubian village before and I find myself asking, HOW did we miss this hotel before? I planned to stay there with two friends, but their flight was cancelled so I ended up staying there on my own. I wish I knew about this little gem on previous trips! Forget about the fancy hotels! This is a genuine piece of Nubian HEAVEN! In typical Nubian fashion, the hotel and all communal areas are painted in beautiful, bright, happy colors. You can't help but LOVE it! The staff are out of this world and meet and greet you with a warmth that you will be hard pressed to find on a continent other than Africa! The domed ceilings in the rooms are such a part of the Nubian architectural style and there are gorgeous murals painted inside the rooms. I was blessed enough to see a Nubian wedding, while sipping wine on the banks of the Nile river. And the breakfast was humungous! In the morning, I'm glad I had enough time to shop in the village. Kafana helped us get some laundry done quickly, change up some money, and arrange transportation to make our short stay in Aswan as easy as possible. They also made us a fantastic breakfast.
