Make sure you pay a visit the 2nd largest French city, Marseille, the forever glamorous Cannes or the popular resort of Nice. For a breath of art and history, stop in Arles, a town full of Roman remains and Van Gogh’s famous artistic inspiration, or Avignon, best known for the stunning Gothic Palace of the Popes - the seat for Western Christianity during the 14th century.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 345 reviewsThe location is just beautiful with great views of the sea and beach on your doorstep. Great food across all parts of the hotel, breakfast, main restaurant for dinner and a choice of the pool bar or beach restaurant for lunch. The team are very welcoming and attentive with a great eye on personal service. Wonderful to also see the hotel manager Stephenie meeting and greeting everyone on a daily basis across the day. The rooms and terrace make the most of the location and full markers for a comfortable, spacious bed with quality linen too.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom

Marseille is a busy city with plenty of excellent restaurant...
Marseille is a busy city with plenty of excellent restaurant especially in the Vieux Port area. This means that there's an incentive for them to provide good and reasonably priced food and drink. If you want top eat with a sea view, there's a premium for this - we did that during the day, but at night we went onto the back streets where there were many restaurants offering a three course menu for €26. We're a bit old for the night-life, but there's plenty about judging from the sound. Luckily our hotel had double le glazed windows so noise wasn't a problem.Guest review byGeoffUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Avignon is a lovely city with so much history to the town as well as close by towns. You can see most of the major sites in one day and can easily travel to other towns like Nimes and Arles. We enjoyed wandering the streets and looking into the cute shops and eating at the restaurants.Guest review byMary BethUnited States - 10.0

We went to Aix for the Cezanne exhibition at the Musee Granet, and we also visited Jas de Bouffon, the Cezanne family home. There is plenty to enjoy and marvel at besides; it is an historic city, full of life (after all, it is a university city). Markets, restaurants, museums and charm are in abundance. And it is a great touring base for Provence...Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The town is lovely.
The town is lovely. Enjoyed the Roman Colosseum, amphitheatre and baths. Visiting La Camargue our main reason for visiting Arles was a delight. However we found in general the food was a bit dissappointing. We visited the fabulous Luma Building which we loved also. Overall would recommend Arles for a 3 day trip maybe, rather than a weekGuest review byPhilipIreland - 4.0
We Didn’t like Toulon. Large, busy place.
We Didn’t like Toulon. Large, busy place. The main town wasn’t nice and not somewhere I would want to walk around. Beaches were very average - dusty shingle rather than sand. I wouldn’t return or recommend. We included the visit in a stopover.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Visiting St Tropez anytime is fabulous but during the Fetes des Voiles is something sensational! The atmosphere is electric, people are generally sooo cool and inclusive and the whole place just hums. People are having loads of fun everywhere but you don’t tend to see out of control drunks anywhere. If you are sitting on the fence and not sure about whether St Tropez is for you, go! You’ll be glad you did…but you need to know prices are higher.Guest review byDesley TruscottAustralia - 10.0

Excellent little town with ample restaurant choices and amazing access to the Calanques National Park. Very walkable, great bakeries (Boulangerie Lion & Le Fournil du Port). Cannot comment on the main beach but la Plage du Bestouan and the Calanque de Port-Pin offer some great swimming and sunbathing opportunities.Guest review byFranciszekUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hyeres is beautiful like with a touch of Saint Tropez but way more peaceful. The people are nice and kind-very helpful. There are so many beach to chooce from. The transfortation is efficient enough. My favorite spot is the Port Saint Pierre- where you can dine by the port. I stayed in Ibis Budget hotel which is very close to the city center. Also the weather is nice.Guest review byMarvinPhilippines - 10.0

We like to fly into Nice and head to Saint Raphael as it’s a large coastal town with a harbour but smaller than Nice and beautiful promenade and many restaurants . I can swim in the sea everyday and grab the sun . It’s a lovely town . Very easy to grab a bus for day trips to other places or a train. We love heading to St Tropez for a day trip . A lovely bus trip . Cheap and great views of the coastline . Also Agay is beautiful resort . You could do Cannes . I’m not sure as regards nightlife as we are are here to relax . There is a harbour and yachts aplenty . So there are options to indulge in sea/ water activities . There is a Monoprix supermarket on same street as large church and few minutes into front of train station . Various Pharmacies . (Important to note that as of this year you cannot purchase strong painkillers from a pharmacy in France . It’s by presciption only . So if you need or require some ensure you take them with you .) .great boulangeries and cheesemongers . There’s also a fruit , veg , Fish market worth a visit . Saint Raphael is all walkable and I spotted many visitors who were wheelchair users . So access appears to be good here . We usually return to Nice for 2or 3 days for more of a city vibe .Guest review byarthurUnited Kingdom - 10.0
