FAQs about hotels in England
The Small Country with Big Appeal
For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Words can’t do justice to the capital London - an exciting mix of famous sights, royalty and vibrant life. Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham are fabulous cities that have emerged from their industrial past to be cutting-edge centres of culture.
Newcastle, Leeds and Bristol are well known for their buzzy music scene, while sedate Oxford and Cambridge are famous for their universities and punting. Stately York still maintains its city walls and Windsor has the wonderful castle where the Queen often resides.
Sheffield and Derby border the magnificent Peak District, while the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are close to Blackpool, one of England’s favourite beach destinations. Other very popular beaches are in Brighton, Eastbourne, Torquay and Scarborough.
With a beautifully rugged coastline, mystical Cornwall has England hotels in the country, as do the Cotswolds where stone houses line picturesque villages. The Georgian spa cities of Bath and Harrogate also have impressive stone architecture.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of what England has to offer, but wherever you visit, you can be sure that Booking.com has a fantastic range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in England to choose from.

- From US$60.66 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 6.4Pleasant - What previous guests thought, 11,557 reviewsThe hotel is in a very good location, near the beach and the promenade, with a building rich in history. The architecture and history are beautiful. It used to be luxurious, and that's still noticeable. Our room was on the 5th floor. Comfortable bed, renovated bathroom, dry, and clean. I especially want to mention the staff. My son got sick with a high fever, and we needed a late checkout at 5 p.m. They accommodated us without charging for an extra night and allowed us to stay for a very symbolic additional fee. We definitely want to come back.Guest review byBogdanUkraine

As a Canadian, your biggest heartache will be the CAD -> GBP. You figure every $1 GBP is $2.00 CAD (that's the formula I used, but obviously, it varies.. it was $1.87 exchange at the time of this writing) Use a card like Revolut or similar.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Busy city, but we always find it easy to get where we want to be, either by walking, bus or tram. Plenty to see and do from shopping to sightseeing. People are usually friendly, especially in the places we visit, always seem happy to help with questions etc. This visit was for a gig at the Bridgewater Hall, a new venue for us, what a wonderful place it is for music. I finally came across the Emmeline Pankhurst statue too in St Peter’s Square. We also spent some time in Aflecks, one of my favourite places to visit, which is a cornucopia of independent, eclectic shops, be prepared to spend some time wandering around, as there are many small businesses spread over the three floors.Guest review byJaneUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Yes. I visit Liverpool every couple of months to see my daughter who's at uni there. The city centre is clean and friendly, while Bold Street is brilliant for a wide choice of restaurants serving great food and Sefton Park is definitely worth a visit.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I have been to Birmingham many times and always feel comfortable there. The people have always been friendly and helpful. It is an easy city to walk around and there is also a very good tram system. The big improvement came when changes to the city centre were made for the Commonwealth Games held here a few years ago. There is a very good selection of restaurants, particularly along the canal and The Mailbox area.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Lots of entertainment for little ones and for adults too, the beach was clean and lots of places to eat so you’d never have to stand a wait around, I did like the smaller pubs on the back streets where the karaoke bars was packed and full of friendly people. Blackpool is a really nice family place.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom - 10.0

My visit to’ Bristol was fantastic, we where there for conference so i couldnt visit so many places. Overall we loved it. The buildings looked very nice and the historical once where so lovely. The people where hospitable too. I personaly found the hills very fascinating as we hard time to walk from where we Lodged to the conference venue, which was like 15minutes walk, it was a good exercie for us.Guest review byVera OduwaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The location was perfect for flying out the next morning.
The location was perfect for flying out the next morning. We did choose to pay for the shuttle to Terminal 5, rather than haul our luggage on the free train. It's a very nice hotel, the room was small but comfortable for 1 night, and the beds were fine, though a little on the firm side as the English seem to like. We had a very nice Indian dinner at the Urban Brass conveniently located in the hotel lobby. The Indian choices were authentic and delicious, not overly spicy as Indian food goes. I think the Indian choices are better than the English side of the menu, as it is primarily Indian with a very friendly staff from India. I would recommend this hotel.Guest review byMarilynUnited States - 10.0

York is so full of history and museums and also picturesque on the river Ouse. Probably a walking city though we both took the hop on and off with a very detailed commentary. Definitely have a supreme after noon tea at Betty's, explore the Shambles and other museums that take your fancy. We passed on the Viking Museum as there was too long a cue but Clifford's Tower and adjoining museum was interesting. We also enjoyed the river cruise. The evensong at York Minster was amazingGuest review bybrown - 10.0

Leeds is a city full of culture historic buildings and places and university. The areas near the river are getting more regeneration to make it attractive to locals and tourists. It’s buzzing with young people and night life. There’s a range of galleries and museums ,the library is a must visit . The variety of Restaurants and cafes offer satisfaction to all tastes and ages. I was pleasantly impressed with what Leeds has to offer. And the future is bright for this lovely city.Guest review bySamiaUnited Kingdom
