London offers something for everyone.
London offers something for everyone. I always try to catch a theatre play or musical (look for 'reduced visibility' or 'last minute' tickets for discounts) and combine my favourite spots and shops (Camden market, Forbidden Planet, Gosh! comics, Gay's The Word, etc.) with an exhibition (the V&A has lots going on) and something a bit further away (e.g. Greenwich by boat, Notting Hill). Shop opening hours are generous (some supermarkets until 22:00) and there are lots of small markets with crafts and foodtrucks (e.g. Bethnal Green, Spitalfields) London is very walkable (there are lots of benches in small parks to rest a few minutes), but do buy an Oyster card for easy travel with the Underground. Most markets, railway stations, and large shops (notably M&Ms World, Foyles) will have (accessible) free toilets. In parks you sometimes have to pay 20 pence with your bank card or credit card. Bring an umbrella, a scarf, and a light jacket/cardigan and you'll be fine most of the year. London is expensive. The 12.5% service charge that is now added to all F&B bills in restaurants and pubs really irks me, because it is supposed to be a voluntary tip, but it's silently added to each bill and if you ask for it to be removed so you can decide for yourself if you want to give a tip, it is not appreciated (note for travellers: the UK is not the USA, tips are not obligatory here, the staff get their income from their employer, not from customers/tips (notwithstanding that service wages are low))Guest review byMarjolein OorsprongNetherlands - 10.0
The location was perfect for flying out the next morning.
The location was perfect for flying out the next morning. We did choose to pay for the shuttle to Terminal 5, rather than haul our luggage on the free train. It's a very nice hotel, the room was small but comfortable for 1 night, and the beds were fine, though a little on the firm side as the English seem to like. We had a very nice Indian dinner at the Urban Brass conveniently located in the hotel lobby. The Indian choices were authentic and delicious, not overly spicy as Indian food goes. I think the Indian choices are better than the English side of the menu, as it is primarily Indian with a very friendly staff from India. I would recommend this hotel.Guest review byMarilynUnited States - 8.0
Food is great and cheap. Hotels are reasonably priced.
Food is great and cheap. Hotels are reasonably priced. Plenty of options to pick up your stay. The Piccadilly line goes straight to central, and even if you drive, it is 30-40 minutes to reach central London. Heathrow is a 15-20 minute drive away.Guest review bySumanth RajUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Well located for Railway travel to London and Gatwick Airport. Local Mall a bit awkward to reach as subway access closed. Quite a few dining options within 10 - 15 minutes walk if you know the way / have a local map. Good local buses and tram serviceGuest review byRobinUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It is a bustling area of East London with an English working class and immigrant population. For me it was a pied a terre so I cannot speak to the amenities of Ilford itself. The Uber taxi drivers were uniformly helpful. I felt at ease there.]Guest review byLipsonIreland - 6.0

An update to my previous critical review, which was uploaded on 29 April. On 2 May, I received a message from the owner, apologising for the non response, advising that their colleague had found the hearing aids but "hadn''t told them." The owner sent a photo of them, then on my confirmation that they were my hearing aids, posted them to my home address, sending a confirmation of proof of posting. Delivered today. It does leave one or two questions, but the way the owner has acted since my review was posted is commendable. I think Booking.com may need to check a few things. The telephone number on the confirmation is the one the owner responds to when arriving, but subsequent calls to that number elicit the response that it has nothing to do with that property. The communication in the last few days comes from a different number.Guest review bySteveUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I found barking very convenient for traveling into London.the station is right on the high street and it's a short journey into the city.the prices in barking are a lot cheaper than London too and there's plenty of shops and cafes in barking to keep you entertained. All in all I would recommend staying in barking especially if your on a budget.the dreams hotel is cheap and good. Which is only bout 2 mins from train station.plus there's a place at 76 longbridge road where you can stay.lovely ensuite rooms with a shared kitchen which is always clean and tidy.its on the high street bout 3 mins walk to train station.Guest review byNigel - 10.0

I was born in Kingston and lived there for a large piece of my life. I like coming to Kingston as I can catch up with friends and family. Love the restaurants along the Thames tow path and the vast array of shops. London being a stones throw away by train.Guest review bySamiUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Richmond is a wonderful town, with plenty of entertainment such as theatres and cinema, especially Richmond Theatre on Richmond Green. There are plenty of wonderful walking routes and parks, Richmond Royal Park is beautiful. Loads of fantastic Pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes. Excellent transport links across London and wider areas. Richmond can be expensive, but is worth the extra costs for a short break.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The local subway was well used and we ate there.
The local subway was well used and we ate there. There was reasonable choice and hot drinks, which I didn't expect. Depending on what you like to eat, there are plenty of small eateries. Where we were, there was a station and many buses so connections are there to get around. Pleasant enough suburb.Guest review byMarionUnited Kingdom
