- From US$176.64 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,024 reviewsToward the end of our 4-day stay, I decided to self-quarantine myself and cope with a cold while the rest of the family enjoyed the sights and sites in the village. At some point the manager became aware of my status and coordinated with the kitchen to prepare some broth-heavy soup (as the attached tavern did not have any chicken noodle soup on their menu). I also liked the attached bookstore and chatting with Robert, the owner, before buying a few genealogy-related books. Perhaps the highlight of the trip was our encounter with about 10 locals at the next table in the tavern. After volunteering to take a photo of their group celebrating an 80th birthday, they provided me with a few leads in my search for some information regarding my 2g-grandfather in the 1850s. That led me to the Puddleducks Café down the street and a chance to chat with the manager (who connected me to the owner - and his brother - at the Spar station).Guest review byCliffordUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 115 reviewsWhat a wonderful 3 nights in Oughterard. Gregory and Deirdre are amazing hosts. Deirdre generously loaned her golf trolley for my round at Oughterard Golf Course, which was just minutes away. The location is idyllic... along the river, with a trail (short cut) into town. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Enjoyed visiting with the other guests while we ate. Would love to come back during fishing season.Guest review byKathyUnited States

There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 10.0
Great little town, friendly and welcoming.
Great little town, friendly and welcoming. Lots of history, beautiful park and marked walk around the town. Free parking with plenty of space. Grocery store, butchers coffee shops, gas station, selection of great pubs and souvenir shops amongst others in the high street. Super little place.Guest review byLorraineCanada - 8.0
Initially looking for a place near Galway.
Initially looking for a place near Galway. The website seemed to suggest that the accommodation was within a reasonable distance. It took us another 40 mins to get there after passing through Galway, so somewhat disappointed. Nothing at the accommodation within walking distance apart from stunning views and very warm, friendly hosts. The nearest places for dinner were Moycullen or Oughterad. We went to the latter, a 20+ minute drive through narrow country lanes… well aren’t they all? Lovely meal at the Powers Thatch. Friendly, welcoming people. All in all, missed out on Galway but had a very relaxing evening back at the accommodation watching the sun set. Beautiful.Guest review byTiger 32Australia - 8.0

It was a fabulous location if you like to be in the countryside but with a car no roblem travelling to different locations within 30 minutes and a fabulous Chinese in headford I think it’s called jade garden the red one on the left anywayGuest review byTracyIreland - 10.0
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks.
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks. This was a self catering cottage . We loved making our own meals. There was a lovely little bakery where we bought a selection of breads, all very yummy. We found a couple of nice cafes in Cong, not too far from Clonbur that served delicious coffee and scones. There is an easy walk from Chonbur to Cong.Guest review byCollette - 10.0

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0

Hasn’t changed since childhood holidays 48 years ago! People still very friendly and welcoming. Love the quick wit and sense of humour. Great village-style choice of pubs, food shopping, restaurants and gift shops. Sense of a real and supportive community. Everyone flexible and willing to help. Easy access from village to multiple sports and beautiful views.Guest review byAnderleyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friendsGuest review byursulaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
